In Mexico City, a “Day Without Women”

Karla Martínez is facing backlash because of this article. Feminists groups in Mexico are criticizing her because the text doesn't reflects the real causes of the march and "a day without women" movement.

I find her words very delusional.

Sigh, Karla. Always landing herself in hot water.
Don't have an issue with 'A Day without Women' because I get her intent, but the wording is all wrong. By saying 'couldn't' instead of 'wouldn't have to' she made it seem as if the women were removed from society against their will. She's very fluent in English so I'm not sure how that c*ck-up came about:

'A day in Mexico without women would mean they couldn’t go to school, couldn’t go to work, couldn’t buy anything at the supermarket or from their local vendors. They couldn’t post on social media, use public transport, visit their relatives, or go to social gatherings. It was a day for people of all social classes to realize the value of women and young girls in society and their economic impact.'

Also, all of this copy below? Not a good look!! Sounds very tone deaf and needy for validation. 'I may be rich but I have a heart. Medals all round for my husband for making his own tea and bed for a day, and CN for giving me the day off!' And of course she had the stereotypical 'shopping' bit in there, lol. Women are often their own worst enemies. Also, I thought the nannies had the day off, but later she had to 'drop one off'? Insert Oprah what's the truth gif.

'My husband and I employ three women in our home, a housekeeper and two nannies for our twin daughters. On Monday, all three were given the day off. My husband made his own tea, as well as our bed, and had breakfast at the bakery downstairs from his office. My daughters attend a French school that decided to support their female employees by closing their doors. And because Condé Nast Mexico and Latin America supported their female employees by allowing them to take the day off, I spent the day at home with my daughters, answering just a few work emails and writing this article. I didn’t make any purchases, and during the one drive I did make, to drop off our nanny, I noticed that there were very few women on the streets and that those who were out, making their commute to work, seemed to be doing so awkwardly among the men going about their daily routine.'

Now that you’ve mentioned it, I did some digging..

Apparently, Vogue Turkey is now under Turkuvaz Matbaacilik, which also publishes Esquire Turkey and Harper’s Bazaar Turkey. It was formely under Doğuş Media Group.

In line with this move, Seda Domaniç has resigned as Editor-in-Chief. Her last issue was the December/January 2019/2020 issue.

Also, the magazine is not ceasing publication as Seda herself said that she is excited to see the work of the new creative team. I don’t find it odd for them not to produce any issues during the transition period. Remember when Vogue Ukraine suddenly went missing and went back as Vogue UA?

Insane how we all missed out on this.

I am speechless, and so excited. I think I'm going to use every free minute of my social distancing to flip through old issues of Vogue Italia.

Woah, they gave us full access to those same crappy scans from trials? I kind of expected them to be more HQ since we did subscribe under ''Full Access''. But I'm not going to complain since full access is stil much more useful and fun than the trial ones. Hopefully American Vogue gives us something as well...

They seem to be very high quality for me when I zoom in on each page.

Can’t seem to rejoice over this. I mean it’s nice that it’s free, but at what cost?

Anyone working on actual magazines, can tell us how they are dealing with the isolation lockdown
?

Would be nice to know.

I wish everyone to be safe guys.

Xx

For my magazine, our photographers have done photoshoots in advance so we're good to go for the next two issues but after that I haven't talked to my international teams on how we are going to deal with that. We'll probably wait til things cool down (no pun intended) before making or planning new photoshoots.

Our writers can work from home and interview people online and get their answers with lots of time so it works out well too.

As for model castings and layouts editions on the pages, it's all online via Skype or Google Hangouts.

As for the remaining 12 other editions of ``Cool´´ I know my team mates in other countries have decided to either stop publishing til things get better or they will produce shoots in zones where it's not quarantine just yet but yeah it's crazy to me.
