The Devil Wears Prada (2006 Movie)

just finished watching it on dvd....
such a funny movie.

meryl streep really looked good in this film.

I think I'm the only one who found the styling in this movie pretty dissapointing..It wasnt on par with her usual styling techniques

i would be so embarassed to be anna wintour ahahahha

actually i was disappointed when i saw that meryl streep was going to be miranda. i thought miranda would be a muhc younger VERY chic classy elegant lady not this old and not this sot of hair color...

I know, I know, I am quoting a very old post - but, I just saw the film. Wintour and Streep were born the same year. Streeps haircolor reminded me of Liz Tilberis from Bazaar.

No, I did too. Some of it was for thick people who dont have an interest in High-Fashion, at least thats my opinion what with the designer symbols everywhere and what killed me was at the start where Miranda walks into to the Elias-Clark building with a huge screen shot of that ugly, disgusting Prada bag- just to make the point for everyone. So stupid, it wasnt enough that she was wearing Prada heels, but that bag, so common and nasty. And Andys Chanel outfits were ok but so by the book there was nothing too them. Some of the outfits, like the one she wears whens shes looking for the 7th Harry Potter book looks so awful and unstylish. But she looked very chic when she was in Paris.

I agree for fashion people couldn't they be a little more chic, Emma didn't look that great sometimes either. I guess I was hoping for supercalafragalistic fashion like the kind Carrie wore in Sex in the City.

best film ever. so good and funny and yet also realy glamourous, a perfect combination of fashion industry

One question, i just saw it on tv like for ninth time, and there's a moment were Nigel described how Miranda reacts when she sees the collections before those are shown at fashion week, he said that her fav or only one were gave her sort of total appreciation was on a Tom Ford collection. Is this for real ? Or just for the entertainment of the movie ?

A sequel is officially in the works...

The Devil Wears Chanel. I'd be for it. I think there could be something interesting, which print magazines and journalism on the out, that's plenty to work with, without it seeming like a retread. As long as Streep, Blunt, Tucci, and Hathaway are back, it'll be a giant hit regardless.

^same, it worked back then. No idea if they could recapture that magic now (and this is despite my own misgivings about Patricia Field's somewhat heavy hand on the Chanel and 'FASHION' stuff on Andy's makeover)

If I have to hear another variant of that god-damn "cerulean sweater monologue" when anyone dares to criticize fashion...

^if the sequel's set in the present day, there'll likely be a monologue on influencers this time.

Supposedly the plot for the new one involves Emily Blunt's character now being an executive at an LVMH-esque conglomerate and there being something of a role-reversal - Streep having to try and get in her good graces, needing the ad pages from said conglomerate for Runway magazine, now in its struggle bus era.

I don't think they should do that, the film is perfect as it is... As Prince said: "Some things don't need to be touched".
Completely agree. There is absolutely no reason for a sequel and I cannot imagine any outcome where this sequel can hold a candle to the 2006 film.

I have always said…“The Devil Wears Prada” is one of the greatest films ever made. The movie was marketed as a romcom, and that wasn’t actually accurate. Also, the fashion world made the movie seem more niche or only appealing for certain demographics.

However, I believe it is objectively one of the greatest films ever made - the screenplay is perfection…the character development is so compelling, the plot is so well paced, the stakes feel real, the editing is so tight, the acting is superb (Miranda Priestly, a fictional character is a cultural icon as if she’s real), the world building is so complete and believable…I could go on and on. It’s an infinitely watchable and quotable movie. Few movies -of any genre- can say as much.

There’s no way a number two will match that level of excellence.

^I agree with this but I'm also dreading the inevitable bad styling they'll inflict on us in the name of "make fashion understaanble to the masses", even the 2006 movie had too many heavy-handed looks and this is almost guaranteed to be worse on that front.
