The Devil Wears Prada (2006 Movie)

I read this book a few years ago when it came out, so my memory isnt the freshest on it, but I just have apprehensions about the movie.

Because Hollywood loves to stretch the facts, and add drama to everything...I can see this as making the fashion industry look worse to the people who bash it already, simply for the fact that they are gonna make the characters more superficial than normal, more bitchy than normal, and more self serving, etc. All in the name of entertainment (which is understandable!!;) ).

That said, I'm obviously gonna see it....can u imagine the closet at Vogue?! J-E-A-L-O-U-S.

yeah, the movie will make the story even more extreme than it already is. it'll probably be entertaining but unrealistic and stereotypical.

the book is good in a beach read sort of way. i read it on vacation while on the beach, but i doubt i could read it in a serious setting

its about a flegdling writer who becomes the assistant to an anna wintour-like magazine editor at "runway" magazine. it was written by a former assistant of anna wintour and its just about her misadventures inthe fashion world having a horrible boss. and of course she has to have two love intrests that she is torn between

total chick lit
Lets be honest here, the book is not good it is badly written and is just not a good work not even for chick lit!The succes of the book is only because of Anna Wintour if it werent for her none of this would be happening! And frankly,i think the movie will be bettre because they didnt focus on all this little stuff like scarf, accent because it is Annas charatheritistic and that is great because it will be bettre than the book wich was just one girls whinig about getting coffe and other things that her job demanded from her, life is tough deal with!

omg omg....simon baker would be in this movie too:wub: srry I had to share it with someone^_^

Just imagine going into the wardrobe and changing outfits ahhhhh so unfair. its like the sex and the city episode with carrie at vogue!!!!!!

Is this book really that good? What's it about?

Its certainly NOT the greatest book ever, and it did tend to drag on in the story a bit..........but there were some VERY funny parts in it.

For a better read..............try Anna's biography Front Row. NOW THATS a great read!!

I need to read this book. What about Anna's biography, what kind of a book is it?Has anyone here met her? What kind of a person is she?

I expected the book to be better too. I was very forgiving to the book mainly because I liked the subject, life at Vogue!, or rather Runway.

I read the book two times now, once in german and once in english. Can't wait to see the movie!
Anne wears nice outfits, btw.

Someone wrote earlier in the thread that the book is just a bitchfest. I agree- I couldn't even finish the thing. Whining that you have to drive your boss' Jaguar from one place to another blahblah whatever.

I will certainly be looking forward to this movie though. I wonder if Andre Leon Talley is going to see it when it comes out, and if he does could he talk about it?

I bet she loves all this attention. When she is alone in her room she's probably thrilled about all the notoriety. Anyone who people considered to be a Ultra-b*tch certainly loves having that title.
I'd bet money on it.

You are so right she loves it,deep down she loves the fact that someone wrote a book about her majesty and that Hollywood made a movie about it because she is immortalized now!
