The MAC Makeup Thread #2

^so what you're saying is that this foundation can clog your pores?
It definitely does, but it has more to do with the fact that it's waterproof than anything else. Oil does not cause acne. You can have oily skin and no acne, and you can have dry skin and acne. Some people have pores that aren't very good at getting rid of dead skin cells just as helen-rox said, and some people have a tendency to get infections in the skin (the bacteria on the skin itself are not harmful and do not cause infection). But oil does not cause acne, though it's a sign that the glands are overproducing oil. And you def don't want to put anything super pore clogging on oily skin

But then again...everything you put on your skin does clog the pores, some ingredients are way worse than others though. I like that the F&B forms a waterproof film, it keeps my from getting dry during the day :D I will say, though, that it's nearly impossible to put a thick layer of F&B on your face, which is probably why it doesn't break me out.

^Yes exactly what I was trying to explain... Obviously there are other factors to acne prone skin and not everyone that has oily skin has acne. But if you do have acne prone skin due to overproduction of oil you should steer away from products that contain oil.

^ Thanks for the warning, I always thought their mascara's were very light so I thought they'd be perfect but obviously not!

Not neccessarily, I've had Plushlash and I loved it.
They've gotten pretty expensive though, I bought Plushlash 2 years ago for €12 and now they're €16! Crazy.

the 224 is really brilliant. i have a few supposed dupes, but none of them cut it. i would have been better off buying additional 224s.
I'm planning to try out the Japonesque Eye Crease Brush:

Thanks so much for your opinions on Mac's F&B.

I only plan on using a little bit of the white to mix in with my regular oil-free foundation. I wish there was a white oil-free foundation, but this is the only white foundation I know of!

^I think Chanel has one too...or is that a base? I'm pretty sure that they have a white base, but it's probably not oil-free. The thing you can do is try to not put moisturizer on your oily areas if you're wearing foundation

I bought their Mineralize Satinfinish spf 15 foundation the other day, not because I need foundation :ninja: but because I wanted one that would give me a rather fresh, dewy face (my other foundations all give a matte finish..). I've used it for 2 days now and I really love how it feels on my skin. It's less moist than face and body (which felt too sticky for me) but doesn't dry entirely as other foundations usually do. It has a tiny bit of shimmer in it, but it's so subtle it's almost not noticeable. Believe me, I usually shy away from anything that contains too much shimmer/sparkles, even for eyeshadows I prefer matte . I do powder my t-zone because I don't want to look dewy all over my face and because I tend to get oily there..
My skin looked rather dull lately and I'm very happy with this foundation! I hope I won't break out in a few days .

I also bought mineralize skinfinish in Soft&gentle, Schroom eyeshadow and Harmony blush:

Harmony blush (to use as a contour)

And this is the paintpot in groundwork I purchased a while ago, that some of you were interested in...

I applied it very heavily but you can build and blend it to the intensity you want.

Oh god, sorry for the picture overload. I have to stop buying stuff :ninja:.

Thanks so much! I don't think that Chanel one is available in the States :(

I'm so sad they're discontinuing the studio stick foundation! I've been using it for 3-4 years and still haven't found anything as good. Does anyone have any recommendations to what I could replace it with - another MAC product or otherwise? :flower:

Yes, the Bobbi Brown stick foundation is really really good, as is the Benefit one, surprisingly, as their foundations are ROTTEN.

Btw, has anyone bought the new Mac Pro Longwear foundation or concealer yet? I bought it online and am yet to receive it.

I noticed when I wandered by the MAC store that the new Felines LE collection I guess (some LE anyway) includes a purple lipgloss, Lap of Luxury. I've never seen one before, so snapped it up ... have yet to wear it.

Random picture spam (which I love! So get posting :D) - just got Naked Lunch. I know, the most boring eye shadow in the world, but it works! You cannot fail with this.

wow, that looks really good on you. is the "shroom" shade similar?

^I think so. The shade description for Naked Lunch says "Minimal pink with shimmer" while the shade description for Shroom says "Soft beige with shimmer". Naked Lunch is a frost finish while Shroom is a satin finish, so I think it is slightly less shimmery. There'd be no point in getting both I think, and you can't go wrong with either

I don't own Naked Lunch but I do own Shroom and maybe Shroom is a bit more beige and naked lunch more pink (like they describe it on the website..) but I don't see the difference.

i was thinking about buying shroom previously, now i am going to buy naked lunch instead.

I got the most wonderful eye shadow today, its called Scene and it looks soooo amazing with brown eyes

i got omega, wedge, woodwinked and club e/s today. so far i'm not impressed at how wedge is showing up on me but it might be different with the correct brush on primed lids. sadly i can't test that right cos my right eyes swollen up :(
