Are Women and Supreme the same agency? Because they're both in the same exact location but have different websites and models? Anyone know what the difference between the two are?

Supreme and Women are the same agency. Supreme is their new faces division, when the models are no longer new faces, they move onto the Women board...
I believe they have separate bookers. I guess they agency name is just to differentiate the two.

Wow that's insane! Women is so huge they need their own mini agency just for the new faces!

I dont work in the business, but for boutique agencies, the results thus far show DNA, Women/Supreme and NY Models are some of the best boutique agencies in NY.
Are those agencies considered boutique? I thought boutique was smaller and DNA and women aren't that I would consider Code, Major etc...

I thought so too... And as to DNA, I remember reading an interview with their in-chief on Models.com, and him himself saying that he doesn't consider DNA a boutique agency or something that made such sense... It was long time ago, but I think that interview could still be found at the archives over there...

Also, there's one more thing to this... I remember someone on this forum saying that the agencies actually represent much more girls that can be found on thier web-side... Like, they take you on, send you to castings and introduce to clients, but won't place your pics on their web-site before they're sure about your potential... I think it was AlmostFamous who said that or some other model working in NYC, I'm not sure...
Well, if that's the case, then the amount of models at an agency's web-site can't define whether they're a boutique agency or not... But I thought it may be the case with these big name agencies, such as DNA or IMG, but those small once (Code, Vision, etc..) don't do that. They have all their models on their web-side...

Anyways... Thanks everyone for your input :flower: If anyone knows more, please share...

hey everyone! I just got on option for the cover of D magazine!!! I am really excited I dont think i will get it, but its just soo cool to even be considered

Warning Models Agent - Steve Chamberlin

Does anyone know what agency Steve is with now? He used to be with Warning Models. I heard he may be back with Heinz Holba, LA Models?

Great how cool.

Good japaense agencies, Donna, and Friday. Kirara is ok too, those are the three that I know about.

Well, I think that if you want to be a good model you should go to NY...
but it's definetly not easy at all. =(
i think the best agency is IMG....

IMG is the top NY agency, they have all the top girls
Jeisa, Daria, Gisele, Kate Moss, Gemma, Jessica Stam, Bridget Hall etc etc etc

DNA and Women compete with them, although they are smaller agencies
DNA has girls like Adriana Lima, Karolina Kurkova, Snejana, Amber Valetta, Linda Evangelista

Women has girls like Carmen Kass, Isabeli Fontana, Vlada, etc

models.com has a ranking of top NY agencies if you want to see

http://models.com/model_culture/top10agencies/

i rate DNA above IMG in NY actually...
although IMG may appear to have the major major talent, they aren not mother agent to many of those huge girls were as DNA are
their talent scouting is precision
their mens board is spot on too

Adriana Lima, Eugenia Volodina, Karolina Kurkova, Marija Vujovic, Raquel Zimmermann, and Snejana Onopka. :)

That'd be interesting to know. Do you mean the people who made their careers, when you say mother agent?...
Because many of the IMG models did not start off at IMG, some moved there after they hit it big...:innocent:

As far as I know, the mother agency is not the agency that made someone's career (it is also quite questionable, sometimes, who exactly has actually made it). Neither is it the agency that first opened someone. But, it is the agency that is prior to all the other agencies that represent a model in terms of the decisions about how to manage her career...

So, for example, someone scouts a girl in Idaho for a local agency. She signs a contract with them for, say, a year. During that year they send her to local castings, find her jobs through the network of their regular clients and take the commission of 20% or something like that from her earnings. They can also send her to work in a bigger market, in, say, Tokyo or Milan or Asia, or maybe even New York, if she wants to go and they believe she will do well. So, they forward her to the agency in a bigger market where she signs a contract for the period of time starting from a few weaks to a few months. If she lands a job in a bigger market, her agency there will take their commission and so will her agency back home. Don't remember the exact numbers, but I beleive that the mother agency's commission is something like 5% and that the bigger agency's is 20%. This smaller percent the mother agency receives is, however, often more profitable for them than the bigger percent of a smaller pay from the local clients.

But, if the girl is doing good and wants to continue in a bigger marker, she is free to do so after her contract with the agency she was with back home expires.
