^Thank you for replying.
Have you heard any of those "reasons" or know of agencies that they left VNY for?

No, probably the same reasons models want to leave any agency- things are slow, problem with a booker, slow payment, etc. Plus, with the smaller agencies like that, it is easier to think "oh, I would do better with a bigger agency".... or they get poached by the bigger agencies. I do think they do a good job with a few of their girls, like Jordan, but the art department (if they even has one), leaves a LOT to be desired.

What about Rocket Garage in NY? They're supposed to be an up-and-coming agency.

Rocket Garage is so new it's hard to evaluate them. They have intersting looking girls, but they're more flavor of the month, one season wonder types than girls with the kind of looks clients will book season after season.

That's exactly right :) Karma to you.... Men and Women will leave agencies for various reasons. But the *most* common reason is that they are wooed by a different agency. There are agencies that are very well known for making deals with girls. They'll dock 5-20% in commission depending on how much the girl is making, in an effort to woo them to switch. It can be a huge attraction.

IMG is well known for not charging commission as a way of poaching top girls from other agencies. Elite used to do the same thing when they were the top agency in the business. Interestingly, however, Cindy Crawford left Elite partly because of that practice. She saw it as a conflict of interest -- since Elite was getting paid by the client, they would looking out for the interests of them rather than her.
And Christy Turlington has admitted that at some point she threatened to leave Ford unless they stopped taking their cut from her fees. They did, but she left afterward anyway.

I completely understand that--it's so important to have a relationship with your booker where you feel like they are looking out for YOU, that they are on your side. Once you feel like they aren't keeping your best interests in mind, it's not a good situation.

What do people know about the Australian market, specifically in Sydney? Differences between Sydney and Melbourne?

Anything about the agency Chadwicks?

Sorry for all the questions...thank you in advance.

^ I heard Sydney is more of an international high fashion market like London. And Melbourne is more commercial (Even though all the designers are based there, they seem to prefer their fashion shows in Sydney) and Brisbane is more Catwalk...

Ariella, sorry I don`t know that agency so I can`t help you with answering this question!Do they have a website?
Nicole, friends of mine work in Australia. As far as I know Syndney&Melbourne both have very good markets, but you need a strong book to get work there. If you have any special questions just ask and I pass them to my friends to answer.

^ Also if you want to work in Sydney. 'Chic' is the best then 'Viviens'...

Yea chic management is quite good.. they manage like miranda Kerr,Catherine Mcneil , Alyssa Sutherland , Elyse Taylor etc.. these models have been around for a long time and every season no matter what they always snag a campaign.

Ariella,on this website you have to log in and I can`t view any portfolios so it`s very difficult having an opinion.Usually I view portfolios to get an opinion and even this is not a guarantee. Sorry, I wish I could help you better

What about your Opinion on small agencies in London like:

FM Models
Oxygen
Nevs
Isis

Its really easy to comment on the big agencies but you never really hear anything of the smaller ones, is that because they are no good, Fm particulary i thought were great, Januel Mckenzie is signed with them and alot of the girls do good editorials...

What do you know of these boutiques?
