Hi. Anyone knows anything about Miami agency Michele Pommier? Thank you.

do agencies usually respond back, if they're not interested? Is this unussual?

I recieved this in my email:
(I only sent face shots, not body shots and I was planning on going to open calls in august, but didn't get the time, so I sent my photos to NY models and they sent me this, oh well :innocent:.

Thanks so much for submitting your photos to New York Models. After reviewing your photos, we feel you are very beautiful but not what we are looking for at the moment. We wish you the best of luck in your future!

Best,

New York Models

There is only one rule: If they're interested they'll reply. Delays may vary though.
Otherwise you may receive a reply or not but the basic content of that answer is just "No" regardless of the politically correct sounding standard text everyone who has been rejected gets. Even Frankenstein's bride would get "...we feel you're beautiful but...". The text is not personalized.

BTW No offense intended but missing full-lengths will normally lead automatically to rejection. Agencies get so many applications that they can't call or e-mail everyone who hasn't followed the rules.

That's not true. If you have the perfect face for modelling, any agency would be willing to take you on provided that you shape up if needed.

True. I just took them myself so it's kinda hard to fit a body in, but it's not like I don't have a killer body, (I do :innocent:) oh well. But I'm pretty sure agencies don't normally do that. It says on their website, not interested no reply.

So,
any members ever send your pictures to them and get an email back?

Well, either agencys reject you by not replying to your application at all or by replying with a standard (like the one you got) refusal. Anyway, in my opinion a standard refusal is fair because you know they viewed your application but are not interested in representing you. And big agencys usually don't have enough time to write a reason for each single rejection.
my suggestion: when you apply in the future send both face+body snapshots. Good Luck :flower:

Well, email them again with body pics?

I wasn't hoping for the best, because for some reason whenever I take pictures on my digital camera (they come out huge, but I sent the huge ones so they could get a good look at my actual face) but anyway they don't come out like model polos (I'm very particular and have the art gene so I know how to spot of good picture). The pictures I sent (as do all my digital photos) look more like those close up's that you take of yourself and they look like too pretty? Like not plain looking enough? I don't know, I'm better off getting a polaroid camera. I mean the pictures looked very "pretty" but I can't seem to take a picture of myself that shows my depth in my eyes. I'm confusing myself. (look in the thread, pictures of tfs members, you might understand me better? 2nd to the last page on the thread and I'm not asking to judge as the rules say, just see how they don't come out as a polaroid)

Anyway, yeah I should get a friend to take some polaroids of my body and face and then just go to open calls. I live right near NY, so maybe when I get a day off this week (college starts) I can take the train in and see what happens. The only reason I even thought of this, is because I've had complete strangers/friends/etc. come up to me and tell me that I should model or guess that I'm already one. So I figured why waste a good thing.

I didn't follow the rules anyway, lol. :ninja:

When you have potential good bookers will recognize that on every kind of photo, just ask any friend to take some nice face and body-shots of you and send them in ;) You don't need to do a lot of effort.

That's what I thinking, when you take them yourself, you over analyze and just think of the camera/flash or the picture, instead of yourself and bringing your natural self to the photo, instead of looking like your trying to hard, which I hate and can tell.

Question: So there is a well known commercial agency in Boston who I met with yesterday, they said they'd like to sign me -but first they said I need to have some professional photos done for a compcard and to put online, and I'm guessing AFTER I've had the pictures done I'll sign a contract? There wasn't any talk of contracts and such during our meeting, I was only told they would take 10% of what I'd earn. Does this all sound normal?

I get what you're saying but in the modeling world they don't through out words like beautiful, they are usually very harsh (I was watching that wilhelmina show on VH1 and it was kind of funny but the stuff was true) and new york models isn't a small agency they have top girls there. The message was personal, there was more to it. They don't ever reply in email unless they are interested and in this case, after emailing, I found out that they found me to be beautiful but not the look at the moment and they will keep me in mind. They were interested for future keepings, but not at the moment. That's why they said best of luck in my future.
fyi, I don't have a plain look like most girls of the moment, I have very blond hair and blue eyes that stand out, it's hard to explain?
And I take it if they like the face, then they'll simply ask to see your body. A face goes far more.

'The Agency' is not a very realistic show. More realistic than ANTM but there was definitely alot of added 'drama' to it. There is not more to it. In fact, I sent them some stuff because of this thread and guess what? They gave the same exact response! If they were interested they would've told you to submit more pictures instead of saying good luck.

Um I know that they were not interested,. I just found it odd that an agency sends out letters like that. I'm not an idiot. And what does americas next top model have to do with anything, that show is a complete joke. An agency is isn't a show it's a business, like an other agency they just represent people.

Yes, it is a show. A reality tv show. They will create the drama and script if that will get them more viewers.

Come on, guys, that's so simple. A girl could be pretty or not pretty, but only in case her face is totally right for my today clients I will invite her with face snaps only. Too many girls sending their pictures so that I could invite anyone whose pictures are too dark or with face only etc.
So I'd recommend you to make 2 sets of polas: 1st set in clothes, in natural daylight, have a look at the models.com to get an idea. The key word to this set is "nice".
2nd set is in bathing suit - full body from all sides and face w/o makeup, with flash bulb, so that the managers could see you better.
And afterwards send them to the agencies together with your measurements.

Hope that helps.
