^Can they even do that?! They're not connected with DNA right? And they copied IMG's website completely, I feel a lawsuit coming on.

Agencies should remember stunning young girls and their parents don't know anything about them and their industry when they decide where to send pictures, often based on the web presence.

Well of course no agency is going to tell them, even in person let alone their website, that she has a chance of a short lived career and low pay. Along with endless hours and debt. Most do know atleast who the big agencies are, or the supermodels of today who sent photos in. If you don't know anything about the industry, then I don't think you would be sending photos to an agency, girls like that seem to just happen to be scouted and what not.

There is a street casting agency called Development NYC. It is run by Douglas Perrett, the casting director (COACD blog)
http://developmentnyc.com/

There is also Ginny Edwards Development, a Mother Agency.

Hope that helps.

im totally curious about this development agency. i was browsing the website the other day and i like the unconventional appeal. by casting agency, do they mean like acting also? or is it commercial modeling? or both. (that may be a dumb question:blush:)

I won't comment specific placement (or "development") agencies, some are serious, some are scams. Such agencies are usually not directly marketing models, i.e. they don't have bookers and clients like "normal" agencies. Their main role is to scout, (more or less) develop and place new faces with "normal" agencies, typically also abroad. The word "Development" is often a tad exaggerated as if there are no clients there aren't that many development opportunities and a few tests isn't what I'd call development.

Scouting networks are a major new face ressource for major agencies, it's more efficient than open calls and randomly submitted material (be it uploaded online, e-mailed or by regular mail).

I didn't check the example you mention so I can't comment it.

Sometimes you find agencies with exactly the same name as known agencies but which are totally unrelated to them, especially also in some small cities.
There's a known case where online only the .com and .de makes the difference and even the logo is a plagiary.
Major agencies try to protect their brand internationally with more or less success.

In other cases known agencies have licensees, which means that some local company or person pays the agency to be allowed to use their name and logo as franchise but legally and commercially they're basically independant.

In case of doubt don't hesitate to call the agency main office to ask. Sometimes you'd be surprised...

A question to NY based guys: how's New York Models doing the shows lately? Is it resonable to do the shows with them?
Thx

Does anyone know of reputable modelling agencies in Serbia? I have a cousin who's interested, but I can't seem to find any legitimate-looking ones online...

Apart from Traffic, View and Group, does anyone know about some good agencies in Madrid?

^ No, these are the only good agencies in Madrid. SS&M Models is not bad, but my favourite is Traffic.

There are more good agencies with less girls on their boards. Just PM me I can send you all info you need :flower:

i have a number of questions and it would be greatly appreciated for any information on any of the following??

www.301models.com in miami? which would be the best 3 in miami?

www.bareface.com in dubai? does anyone know what the $US is doing there work wise? can you make money?

and in london, which agencies are better for high end commercial? like, not too commercial, but not high fashion if that makes sense? im thinking next or premier or independant. which would be better.??

I can only speak for London... I'd say Next, Storm and Independent are pretty good for the high-end Commercial... and they really look after their girls too so would be worth visiting them first... Maybe try Models1 and Select too... Best of luck!!

Ford Models Founder Jerry Ford Dies

Jerry Ford, who founded the Ford Modeling Agency with his wife, Eileen, in 1946, died Sunday at the age of 83 in Morristown, New Jersey. His daughter Katie Ford told the New York Times the cause of death was complications from endocarditis, or inflammation of the heart. Ford is credited with turning modeling into a true profession and establishing the business practices by which it operates today. He introduced a system for collecting fees for models and agents. He also was the first to create contracts for models to exclusively represent certain brands and earn much higher fees. Lauren Hutton signed the first such contract negotiated by Ford with Revlon in 1974. Ford's agency managed the biggest models for decades, including Christie Brinkley, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, and Brooke Shields. In the book Model: The Ugly Business of Beautiful Women by Michael Gross, Ford says, "I’m not from New York. I thought models were the most incredible things in the world.” Jerry Ford, 83, Man Behind the Models, Dies [NYT]

Has anyone any information of Vogue modelling agency from Czech ? I would appreciate any kind of info of them..

Does anyone know if Roman left Elite?
And if he did, where he ended up?

I know he's been a bit prone to jump around ever since he left Women for Elite a few years back....
