The Official Harry Potter Thread

just found out about a screening of the film in English where I live next monday! I'd love to see it sooner but avoiding the awful dubbed german voices will be worth the wait :p

since it's the general consensus that my friends & I would'nt be looked at like losers lol, we're gonna show up in head to toe harry potter fashion, from the messy hair to drawn on scar & the hogwarts uniform, robe & wand. But mostly i think we're gonna be going hard with the accent annoying the crap outta people!! i know we might be pushing it but we need to bring the lightness & amusement to the day to keep from crying that the era of potter mania is officially ending:) :)

loved it. i'll wait for you guys to see it, but i think it was a great ending to the series

i loved McGonagall in this movie, so adorable, she got quite a few laughs
Ron and Neville are bad*ss and the 19 years later was nicely done as well. the guys got some laughs, but just because it was weird to see them like that, not because they looked bad...the only one who looked bad was Bonnie...Harry could totally call me in 19 years, he looked really good actually:lol:

^movies always get released on Thursdays in Germany (don't know about the rest of Europe) and most theaters have these "preview" screening options for Wednesdays for really big movies (don't know exactly how that works or if they have to pay extra for it). so these blockbuster movies often open 1-2 days earlier in Germany since they get released on the same weekend around the world (or at least the biggest markets)

cloudyshambles: i will definitely watch it again in the english theater here, but the dubbing wasn't all that bad. it was funny when Mrs Weasley said "Du Schlampe!" to Bellatrix:lol:

OMG. I'm sick to my stomach with jealousy!! You and littlepaperscissors have both seen it.
I'm so excited!! Only Two more days!!

I'm scared to ask you anything about it. lol. Favorite scene, without too much detail?

^can't say that yet. there wasn't one that completely blew me away, like the tale of the three brothers in the first part, much of the movie is still one big blur in my head.
but one thing i remember and i haven't read anything about it anywhere else yet...Neville and Luna are a fan-fave couple, right? but they never got together in the books and even Rowling said she had never really thought about them that way (or am i mixing things up?!). and least Neville comes up to Harry in the movie at one point and says to him that he's crazy about her and he should tell her right away since they might not survive that night and in their last scene they sit together and sort of look like they're about to get together. maybe that was a little bow to the fans?

oh, i loved when the teacher and Molly put that ring around Hogwarts, that was so well done. generally i just loved to see everybody back and that we were back at Hogwarts:heart:
and you hear Hedwig's theme for the first when Harry gets back to Hogwarts, such a sweet little touch
i also loved the scene when Harry, Ron and Hermione go down to the boat house, you get to see the battle up close
AND finally, there were cool (yet very un-pg-13) effects when Bellatrix and Voldemort died

hope this isn't too spoilerish.

oh no she didn't! hahaha!:lol:

I'm going today! In 6 hours :buzz: Gosh, I literally can't wait! Jumping on my seat and biting my nails  And I decided didn't put any make up on eyes

Saw the Midnight 3D showing here in Australia in the early hours of this morning (the 13th). Loved it. A perfect end to a wonderful 10/11 years of Harry Potter (in my life anyway). It was a great film in its own right separate from being a great end to the series.

Most of the cinema was in costume too! Was a lovely atmosphere. Lots of cheers, laughs etc. it was a bit awkward when I could hear people sobbing...I was tearing up myself though!

The talent of the Cast and Crew is obvious in this film. So many special effects and just generally alot of talent!

Hope those who are yet to see it enjoy themselves!

^speaking of 3D. did you get Harry Potter 3D glasses? my theater only had the normal ones, but this dude on morning TV said we would get Harry Potter glasses (3D glasses shaped like Harry's), i guess that was only for the press screenings though. i doubt they would manufacture millions of 3D glasses just for the Potter movie

^Whoopi Goldberg had Harry Potter 3D glasses on The View yesterday morning as well.
I'm planning on seeing it in 3D at some point, so hopefully they will have those when I go. :D

Here's a review from Lainey Gossip (she's a big Potter fan)...I haven't read it, but based on her comments since she's seen it, I'm pretty sure she loved it.
And she's also now crushing majorly hard on Matthew Lewis.

i'm crazy jealous some people has already saw it & i'm sitting here waiting 2 more stinking days!!! everytime i see a preview, i burst with excitement & anticipation, but then i see a interview with the cast, i get all sad. the wait is driving me crazy & i'm all jittery!! i need a potter fix:) lol..

Just came back from watching the movie.. Observations:

- Alan stole the show (I'm reminded once again why he's about the only actor whose movies I would always make a point to watch even if I may not like the movie summary or the other actors).
- Hermione and Ron are not that prominent in the movie as compared to DH1.
- Neville came into his own.
- The "kiss" was not "wow-tastic".
- Acting-wise for Trio, same level as DH1 (which was great IMO).
- Could have shorten the part about the Grey Lady and extended the fighting/emotional scenes IMO.
- Should have ended the movie at the part where it was just the Trio on the bridge (I've never liked the epilogue so maybe I'm biased).
- Only Hermione and Harry looked good during the epilogue as in they can be someone you may want to hook up with eventhough they are old :p. The rest looked ordinary.
- Minerva was best older female character. The part with her calling the castle to defend the castle was great, and the look Molly gave her was funny.

I'm watching it again tomorrow so I may have changes in opinion then.. :p
