The Official Harry Potter Thread

I was a lucky one to attend the NYC premiere on Monday, red carpet and all! Nothing like watching the movie with a full theatre of die hard fans...incredible experience. The cast was very gracious to the fans even though it was sooooooo HOT out. Our theatres are all sold out here for the midnight showing so I guess I'll see it again some other day! Enjoy everyone...

I watched it in IMAX 3D, had amazing seats and it was glorious right from the beginning! Throughout it, I was either clutching my hands to chest (that's how blown away I was!), mumbling "omg, omg, this is it! nonono, it's ending", and ugly crying from McGonagall's scene onwards. I especially love the Prince's Tale part of the movie, it's so heartbreaking. Worth every penny.

I still need time to fully comprehend everything, seeing as I'm exhausted at the moment, but I do know that it was fantastic! And the film was such a great way to end the series. It's truly a standout and a great way to end our adventures with Harry. Also, I cried, A LOT. Pretty much from the scene where Harry goes into the forrest onwards. I was a bit of wreck I suppose.

I'm still processing this movie. I just feel so overwhelmed right now and I need to see it again.
It was an amazing film. It just flew by. I wish it were longer and I wish it didn't have to end.
My heart seriously hurts right now. I need to curl up and cry my eyes out.

^can't say that yet. there wasn't one that completely blew me away, like the tale of the three brothers in the first part, much of the movie is still one big blur in my head.
but one thing i remember and i haven't read anything about it anywhere else yet...Neville and Luna are a fan-fave couple, right? but they never got together in the books and even Rowling said she had never really thought about them that way (or am i mixing things up?!). and least Neville comes up to Harry in the movie at one point and says to him that he's crazy about her and he should tell her right away since they might not survive that night and in their last scene they sit together and sort of look like they're about to get together. maybe that was a little bow to the fans?

oh, i loved when the teacher and Molly put that ring around Hogwarts, that was so well done. generally i just loved to see everybody back and that we were back at Hogwarts:heart:
and you hear Hedwig's theme for the first when Harry gets back to Hogwarts, such a sweet little touch
i also loved the scene when Harry, Ron and Hermione go down to the boat house, you get to see the battle up close
AND finally, there were cool (yet very un-pg-13) effects when Bellatrix and Voldemort died

hope this isn't too spoilerish.

Wait did the part between Neville and Luna actually happened because I dont remember seeing it....

ahh i only had 4 hours of sleep but I'm too awake right now! The movie was soo good, a bit fast paced but a great great ending to an amazing series. I cried soo so much it was actually quite embarassing when the lights came back on and my face was all wet lol. Our theater gave us potter-style glasses as well (although next time I see the movie will not be in 3D)
Some thoughts (in white)
- Helena Bonham Carter's impression of Emma was so perfect!!!
- I'm glad that basically the entire movie is the battle at Hogwarts. I was worried that part would be short.
-Snape's death was horrible, I couldn't watch when Nagini kept attacking him! But the memory scene was fantastic and so heartbreaking, when Snape grabbed the dead Lily off the floor and held her and cried I just completey lost it.
- I also cried when Harry returned to Hogwarts, when Hogwarts was being destroyed, and when Fred died and Ron threw himself onto of his body and cried. Yea I cried for pretty much when Harry returned until the end
-Ron and Hermione were soo cute, I thought the kiss was adorable
-everyone clapped when Molly said her famous line "NOT MY DAUGHTER YOU B***CH" and also when McGonnagall dueled with Snape and won.
-Some parts I didn't know if it was meant to be funny or not, like after King's Cross when Voldemort gets up off the floor and Bellatrix was all over him. Everyone laughed. Also when Malfoy walked over to the death eater side and Voldemort gave him this really awkward hug.
- Neville was a bad ***! Loved him in every scene
- I also loved how they brought back alot of characters and small parts from all of the movies.
- I loved seeing Sirius again and also his parents with him. By that point my eyes were so teary I couldn't see
- The epilogue was well-done, I was afraid it was going to be so weird. Malfory and Ginny looked horrible though. The last scene of Ron, Harry, and Hermione all grown up makes me emotional now just thinking about it!

that's alot of thoughts but I had to let it out  I'm just so upset it's the end!!!!

^the scene where Neville said that he's crazy about Luna (i think to Harry) was sometime during the fight, i def remember Neville running up the stairs. and then when the fight is over they sit together all awkward like when you like the other person but don't know what to do about it...

and my theater laughed at the Bellatrix-Voldemort part because he was just like 'get off me b*tch' and pushed her away (and i think she fell? - i wasn't looking at that moment)

ohh i cant believe i dont remember him saying it! I actually might see it again tonight so I'll pay attention to it.

yea Voldemort was kinda of a b**tch in this movie

Did Molly really say 'b*tch' on screen? I always thought they cut that line to 'not my daughter you!'.
I don't remember any swearing in Harry Potter movies at all so that would be a bit weird.

Yup!

For DH1, the 3 Brothers tale and the dance stood out for me. For DH2, Snape's death and his flashbacks stood out the most. I started crying when Snape died up till the scene where Harry went into the forest and saw his people.

Hermione/Bellatrix was funny. The dragon part was cool. Still think it should have ended at the scene with the Trio on the bridge.

some early figures
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 earned a record $43.5 million at midnight showings, surpassing The Twilight Saga: Eclipse's previous record of $30 million. IMAX theaters set a new record as well with $2 million at midnight.

The epic finale has already grossed $105.1 million at the worldwide box office with the weekend still to come! Just on Wednesday, the film earned $43.6 million internationally in 26 countries.

Warner Bros. Pictures released "Part 2" in 3,800 theaters at midnight and the theater count expands to 4,375today, including 3,000 3D locations.

I went to see it today and loved it!!! Both Deathly Hallows movies were my favorite but the Part 2 was probably even better^_^ I truly enjoyed the whole movie and I'm not even a die hard fan. Yet it's kind of sad it was the very last movie, my sister even said she doesn't have anything to live for anymore:lol:

other people i knew who saw it didnt see the neville part either. thats strange...

and its official, im seeing it again tonight. why do i do this to myself??

I came back from the cinema 2 hours ago! I really really love it!Everyone started to clap at the end it was cool.
I didn't cry i'm not that kind of person but now I'm felling a little bit sad, I guess I'm realising that this is really the end.
All i can say is Long Live Harry Potter!

^^i've seen people on ONTD comment on it. maybe there are two different versions out there?
but it's really just that one sentence and a little scene at the end, so it can be easily overseen.

So now that I've had time to mull it all over and compose myself a bit more I can honestly say it was a standout film. And of course all the actors were brilliant but I really think that Neville and Snape got their due. To me they were the scene stealers. I loved seeing Neville finally take charge and have a more active role in the series.

And at the end when speaking to Voldemort Neville was such a bad***. As for Snape, we finally saw the vulnerable side of him, the real side to his story. And I think the way they did his death and the memories scene was very fitting and memorable. Also, loved that my theater started cheering when Molly said her famous line, during the Ron and Hermione kiss that we've been waiting for, as well as when Voldemort finally died. And people laughed when Malfoy was hugged by Voldemort it was just awkward and totally unexpected. Overall I loved the whole movie and especially teared up starting around Fred's death but it got progressively worse when Harry went into the forrest and saw his parents. By the end I was a complete wreck crying during the final scene. And I think I still am a bit emotional about it because I started tearing up this morning when I saw video montage of the films. It's going to take awhile to sink in. Also, do you think this movie will be nominated for awards (such as the Oscars, BAFTA's)?

^i still can't believe this is the final movie. i just can't grasp it. i think i will only really realize it in 1-2 years when there's nothing to look forward to, no new ads, no new character pics, no new trailer etc.:(
this is such a depressing thought
