Good point.

Meanwhile, on another board I belong to, I found this link to a style blog, but it's in French, so I can only look at the pics. The author looks like a plusher, bigger Liv Tyler, IMO:

Thank you for the link classic1908. This lady is truly gorgeous. She also seems to be quite the girl about town. Good for her.:flower:

I posted this picture of myself on The Purse Forum to show off a new Hermes bag of mine, but I'll go ahead and post it here as well. I'm not wearing anything remotely stylish really, DH and I had just returned from the hardware store loaded with fresh plants for the yard. This is how I trick out a very basic outfit, with a classic bag and a good scarf.

It's a very pretty bag and I love how you tied the scarf :)

Thanks for posting a picture :flower:

LaurieAnn, beautiful Bolide and scarf. :flower:
This illustrates how good accessories can improve a basic outfit.

^ Thanks for posting a pic, LaurieAnn :flower: I will think about you and your gorgeous accessories the next time I go to the hardware store (there will be no Hermes involved in my trip ;))

This site looks promising. The girl looks so French, and I wish I could describe her style better than that. But I love it.

Incidentally, for translating websites into English try http://babelfish.altavista.com/. Sometimes sites with lots of Flash are difficult but it handles this blog just fine.

^^
Thank you for the translator. I'll use it when I look at the blog from now on.

Here's MG and friends at a Sotheby's dinner. I like the color of the dress; her male companion (walker? to the right) looks a bit Botoxed.

Hey ladies (and gents if present and knowledgeable), I know somone who is a plus size petite, and she has a hell of a time finding stylish clothes. She loves style, but is easily frustrated by this and is slowly losing her passion for fashion as a result. Can any of you recommend some brands or stores other than Lane Bryant and Torrid that she could look into for this?

Thanks in advance for any help! :) Feel free to PM me. :)

^ Talbots has plus petites ... I know it's not a store that screams style, but you can find good individual pieces there ...

Also she might try J Jill, although I feel the style factor there has taken a sharp downward turn of late, they still have a few good individual pieces ... I'm not sure how far their petite sizes go, but I know they have both petite & plus ...

Does Salon Z carry petites?

LaurieAnn may have some suggestions for your friend ...

Love the dress and colors, and looks like some good underpinnings too. Marjorie looks great! You're right, the friend is a little cheesy ...

H&M has allot of gorgeous tops and blouses in the BB section this spring :). Just so you guys should knwo :p

^^
I'm guessing it's a wig, and I think J. Hud could have it styled better. But I do see where she was going -- she wanted to get away from the familiar curly/wavy look. She looks pretty good w/curly or wavy weave. I do like the top.

And to the plus petite question, other posters are right. The more conservative career lines have petites, e.g. Talbots and Jones New York. I have seen very limited petite basics in INC Woman.

we never talk about where to shop in here! always jhud!

We have quite often in the past, but part of this is the lack of options for plus size women. There just aren't that many interesting options for the truly plus size woman out there.:flower:

As far as fashionable petite-plus that really is a bit of an oxymoron. I have purchased basics at Talbots that I mix with other items and dress up with accessories. Another line which works for me at the top end of their size range is DKNY.

This spring I also purchased two jackets, two pair of slacks and one skirt from Armani Collezioni, regular sizes at SAKS. I never would have considered this but the SA I was working with suggested the line as having a "forgiving" cut. The SA had the head seamstress right in the dressing room with me pinning the clothes right and left and indicating where something could be taken out a bit. When all of the alterations were completed I was very happy with the fit.

First off thanks for your help LaurieAnn and Fashionista-ta, Id throw some karma your way but I never have enough to go around :p

Im curious LaurieAnn, why do you call this an oxymoron? Is it because the plus-petite frame isnt readily embraced by designers? I think this is a market that although may not be as large as the others, is so seemingly untouched that any brand to really embrace it would likely make a killing. I want to think though that someone has already picked up on this and that there IS a brand [or two, or a few?] out there that is really going to town with this. *Sigh* But with Torrid left to the teens and Talbots left to the ultra-conservative, the only brand that seems to be in the middle and geared towards plus-petites is Lane Bryant. :( Its a shame that they only have one store to really call home.
