We have quite often in the past, but part of this is the lack of options for plus size women. There just aren't that many interesting options for the truly plus size woman out there.:flower:

As far as fashionable petite-plus that really is a bit of an oxymoron. I have purchased basics at Talbots that I mix with other items and dress up with accessories. Another line which works for me at the top end of their size range is DKNY.

This spring I also purchased two jackets, two pair of slacks and one skirt from Armani Collezioni, regular sizes at SAKS. I never would have considered this but the SA I was working with suggested the line as having a "forgiving" cut. The SA had the head seamstress right in the dressing room with me pinning the clothes right and left and indicating where something could be taken out a bit. When all of the alterations were completed I was very happy with the fit.

yeah i love hearing what you all are wearing or great finds! or things you put together thats all!

What a great SA ^_^

Does Salon Z carry petites?

Not sure about the store, but in the catalog J Jill petites go up to 18.

Maybe I'm alone but I think J-Hud looks horrific in that picture. I see the beginnings of a camel toe. :ninja:

I have to admit I agree with Luxx. Very few women can/should wear leggings and this is a good look at why. I'm not a fan of the visible bra thing, either.

As a Salon Z semi-regular (more accurately, someone who picks up the ifferings at Off Fifth ), I don't think they carry a lot of plus petite things. Saks is not a better sportswear-type store, so Jones New York wouldn't be part of their lineup. I haven't even seen petites in their private-label Sport line.

Often I don't mention where I buy things because I can get into some misses lines, as well as plus lines, and shop all over the map. I find stuff ranging from Salon Z to places like Target (for Isaac Mizrahi) and thrift/consignment stores.
Lately, though, I am really liking INC Woman at Macy's and Bloomingdale's.

JHud is in Sex in the City as an assistant to SJP. Hopefully she hasn't been given the Ugly Betty treatment, will be interesting to see what Patricia Fields has done for her!

BTW, there is a company called Laura which does plus petites - they usually have a bit of the collection online but it's not there at the moment (curiously). It's a chain store found only in Canada which you'll find in all the major cities, so bear it in mind when you venture north...if you do see photos though I have to tell you that the models are over 5'7" - there being *no market* for plus petites...

Yeah, I don't like her outfit there either. I still find her super cute, but ...yeah :ninja:

I didn't really look that closely until now but JHud looks like she's...um..dressing to the left...in those pants KWIM?

She does not look Oscar-winner or SATC cast in that get up!

I think we're being a bit too critical here ... not just of Jennifer but of other plus-size celebrities too. It's hard to put yourself out there, esp when you're not "perfect" by society's standards ... and I'm betting Jennifer's boyfriend thought this was a fantastic look.

^^
I suspect Jenn's sig-o found the look great.
And I do agree that it is challenging to put yourself out there if you don't fit society's "standard." I just saw Jill Scott at her bra line launch and she took some on the blogs. Angie Stone takes stuff all the time, along with Kirstie Alley and Camryn Manheim (although she's lost quite a bit of weight).

^ There's a lot of criticism of women period, and even more so if you dare to break any of the rules ...

I sure am glad there's no papparazzi outside my house ;)

^ That's cool ... I love that he does custom work for her.

Wouldn't it be great if there were a plus size line that could do what Target has done & have guest designers? I think there are several who empathize with the plus-size customer who would participate ... I bet Galliano would (if he means what he says). (Formerly plus-size Lagerfeld & his attitude need not apply :p)

^If only. As it is, I hate that target's Go lines only go up to 13. There regular collections go up to 16 or 18, and I fell in love with a pair of nice jeans for the Rogan line, but 13 is as high as they go. The website says they go to 15, but I have never seen it as an option in stores.

Now that it is summer, I have been looking for swimsuits. Such a pain in the @$$

That would be a nice idea, but I don't see Charming Shoppes having the savvy to do that. CHRS has a virtual monopoly on the mass plus market in the U.S., particularly since they bought LB from the Limited, and you see the results. I liked LB better when it was under the Limited's ownerships.

That's why I'm curious to see how Evans will work out here. From what little I know about Evans, it does seem to be a bit more fashionable.

Classic, when did Charming Shoppes take over LB? I only buy basics there now, the change of ownership is probably when they lost me too.

As for Beth Ditto, that looks like one of Mrs. Roper's caftans on Three's Company. But good for her for not being afraid of color, I guess.

I haven't been in LB in a long time, so not sure what's happening there ... but I believe you when you say it's not good ;)

It just really seems to me like there's a huge gap in this market ... maybe one of you clever girls could help address it? :innocent: Or, with all the celeb clothing lines, perhaps someone like Jill Scott could address it?

I just got these double shirred panel skirts from XCVI Wearables in the plus department at Nordstrom. They had them in four colors (black, brown, grey and white) and I picked up three. I'm definitely a new fan of XCVI.
