Hi Francophile, contrary to some opinion expressed on this page there are some excellent online stores that offer custom made clothing for most figure types (not just stick figures). I realise there's a certain thrill attached to conventional shopping, If you're able to find anything you like in your size, but nothing can compare to receiving a custom made garment that flatters you. Plus no-one else will be wearing the same style as you.

Hi Jezenya,

Can you post some of those online places? Thanks! :flower:

Hi Francophile,
I am a dressmaker myself, so most of my time is spent making custom made garments, some sites I can recommend are cdjapan.co.jp and threadless.com, both of these sites have custom made casual wear.

Personally, I make designs which people can order to their specific size and fabric preference at jezenya.com and our designs encompass formal and casual styles.

I was browsing Saks' site and noticed they (as well as Nordstrom) introduced a David Meister line in 14-24W. However -- the dresses are either black or navy. Knowing that Meister's done beautiful colors, I'd like to see some color (he did a great red-orange dress for Viola Davis, one of the best supporting actress Oscar nominees).

I suggest go to Lane Bryant and Torrid. They have a great variety of styles and many sizes.

I am posting Jennifer Hudson from the Grammies. This is the absolute best she has ever looked IMO. It is by RM by Roland Mouret, an designer that always looks great on fuller figures IMO

I love the styling of the blue suede pumps.

I thought it looked even better in motion than it does in photographs. And anyone have an idea who did her makeup? She looked flawless.

^^ Oy vey. Shoes are Louboutin, unless the red soles are just copycat.

JHud's either been working out, or that family business has been taking its toll. She's still got curves, but in that photo above she looks stressed and tightly wound. Poor chica.

^^
Perhaps a combo of both, but I hope she is working on stress relief.

Meantime, I have tidbits.

I read that Forever 21, for the younger disposable fashion crowd, is doing a junior plus line.

For older/more traditional dressers, I've seen David Meister and Badgley Mischka Platinum Label offerings on Web sites such as Saks, Bloomingdale's and Neiman Marcus. I'm glad to see the Badgley Mischka, because I have a reason to buy eveningwear.

^ The other thing you could try is a black top under--I've had good luck with that. You do have to be patient & get the right top ... sometimes adding a cardigan to a delicate dress can skew grandma.

Another pic of Marjorie w/Lynn Wyatt and Carolyne Roehm (I love Ms. Roehm's colors in this pic):

Wow we need to blow the dust off of this thread  I can't believe its been so long when there is so much going on that we can talk about!

Beth Ditto's Line with Evans is almost here and there is a preview in the Telegraph. The clothes look very 80s but they're interesting nonetheless. Love the cropped leather jacket.

Thanks for the scans :flower:

I love the shoes. I could never wear what Ditto wears but I do like her style.
