The Vegetarian & Vegan Thread

I agree, gardenburger and morningstar prime grillers are pretty good. I just went to Ruby Tuesday the other day, (for those of you in the states) and their Jack BBQ veggie burger was really good!

Red Robin also have gardenburgers(or maybe boca?) and they said they can use it on any of the burgers on their menu instead of the regular beef burger:flower:

is it the same protein?^ in fruits and veggies? as in, good for building heart muscle?
Vegitables have incomplete protein, but if you mix the right combo you can get complete protein.

BOCA burgers are too thin. Theres a fish burger. It's like salmon or something. I forgot what it's called, but it tastes really good and it's real seafood. I hate it when people say that vegetarians can't eat seafood.

well technically... if you are a vegetarian... you dont eat animals- its by definition

in my opinion, boca burgers and morning star burgers are more appropriate if you want or miss that meaty texture. gardenburgers taste more like rice with veggies blended, so easier for people who are sensitive to that meat taste.
BUT, if you want a really good recipe, grapeseed veganaise, bbq sauce, thinly sliced tomato, thin sliced zuchinni, thin sliced purple onions, pickles and veggie burger on whole wheat bun...mmmmm
cheese too if you want.

^ what would be the right mix?

red beans and rice, or any bean and rice mixture. I can't think of any more offhand, but I'm sure that if you eat a variety of various food groups at one sitting, you'll be okay.

I like rice and beans, but watching my carb in take. I am not on the atkins or anything. I guess, brown or wild rice would be good with red beans?

^^mmm I love wild rice (especially Uncle Ben's long grain wild rice:heart: :woot:, it's not the healthiest but it sure is yummy:p I haven't eaten it for a long time)

Awww. I've been vegi/vegan for about 5 years, but I get fish cravings sometimes, so I make exceptions every so often.

its so hard when you are the only vegi too! My boyfriend wants me to eat sushi so bad and I love it!!!!!! I just started being a vegi a month ago and i havnt went close to any meat!!!!

I feel bad breaking my promise to myself to become a vegi.... but i feel for sushi... UGH!!!

I love being a vegi, however. I wouldnt make this exception everyday. I will never go near red meat again.

I guess making an exception this early on in my attempt to be vegi isnt that bad.

^no it's not that bad if you just started.. I think it's easier to cut things out a little at time, for me it was;) :flower:

Last summer I became a vegeterian for 4 months but then had to go back because my mother forced me. But now again this summer I plan on becoming one and trying to see how far I can make it with out my parents forcing me to eat meat.
I would love to become vegan but i love cheese to much! Are their any fake-cheese brands that I can buy? And how do they taste. Many people say it taste bad.

fake cheese sucks... That seems unjustified for your parents to not allow you to be vegetarian, make sure that they are seeing you eat healthy vegetarian meals and snacks, and that you've got all your bases covered :) good luck

just curious, for those of you who follow a vegetarian lifestyle.....how do you feel about eggs?.....

^^ I don't eat any;) Unless they're in a piece of whole grain bread that I eat:lol: (I eat food for life bread, ezekial, genesis..etc...)

I eat eggs, but not very often...but to be honest I never really ate them before being a veggie.

i have been eating mostly vegetarian for the past few months but dont want to give up my weekend hard boiled eggs......this is why i ask......

I just never really liked eggs.
I think the less of any meat, it's probably healthier. So,even if you eat just eggs, atleast it's not like you are downing a cow, 2 pigs and 3 chickens per week. LOL!
I eat fish still, but mostly veggies.
My joints started to make cracking sounds.

i eat eggs every so often but they have to be free range i cant bring myself to eat battery farm eggs.

also eggs tend to be in almost everything from quorn to cakes so if i wanted to cut them out i would personally find it near impossible!
