The Vegetarian & Vegan Thread

I found a jar of Raw Honey in the back of my fridge so I using that in tea now.Mmm!
I had strawberries with granola for breakfast, they are local. We have lots of broccoli and eggplant, avocadoes, apple bananas, yams and kale in season so I've been eating lots of those.Trying to stay away from a lot of processed food, but I do have a spoonful of Maranatha peanut butter as a snack. And I usually have quinoa with lunch and/or dinner for protein.I try to follow this guideline: breakfast a King, lunch a Prince, dine a pauper.Your digestion is the strongest between 12 and 1 so eat the most then, and try to eat at least two hours before going to sleep, all that food in your digestive cycle can keep you awake.I don't see how people can have a nightcap either, alcohol keeps you awake.

Oiselet: I totally know the “tone” you're talking about! It’s completely backhanded and snide. I also hate when people put their hands around my wrists and comment about how tiny, skinny, bony, small, etc they are. It’s given me a bit of a complex to where I don’t like to wear bracelets or short sleeves. Next time I should circle my arms around their waist and screech wide-eyed “look what a large waist you have!!” lol.

CholeFrancoise: Their diets are not very healthy at all and this will sound totally evil but today one of the girls was complaining about how sick she felt and all I could think was "maybe you shouldn't have eaten all the decaying flesh..." The other girl has had kidney stones already...I'd say I'm in great health and I thank you all for the replies. It just can get so irritating to have your way of life constantly tested and probed.

Cygnenoir: Thank you for your pm! I hope all goes well with your internship in NYC; sounds terribly exciting! Maybe when you get back we can go out for some wheatgrass shots :)

I totally love this thread! I didn't know until now that there was a vegetarian thread. I became one about 4 months ago and it's the best thing I've ever done. There is nothing like "clean" food. I can't even drive by a McDonald's or Jack In The Box now. I'm obsessed with baby carrots right now, just plain, they're the most wonderful thing.

^I'm totally with you on baby carrots, Ashcottmanor... I don't know what I'd do without them. They're perfect for a snack or with a meal.

I miss carrots ! I'm one of those rare adults with braces (took a while to save up to pay for the damn torture devices) and carrots are hard for me to chew.Somehow I can nibble on multi grain crackers though.mmm

Lol! I had braces twice when I was younger and I called them the same exact thing "torture devices" because they're, why would anyone think of metal brackets that pull your teeth in certain directions. It totally suck and I am sorry you're going through that now , I feel your pain! But better late than never right?

I'm glad you all feel the love on the baby carrots like I do. I got obsessed with them when I first became vegetarian. Actually I'm kind of on the raw food kick right now, and baby carrots were perfect. They're just sweet but not too sweet at the same time and I like putting lemon juice on everything so sometimes I cut up baby carrots and fuji apples and mix them all together with lemon juice....and if I'm feeling really wild, I mix some raisins in too and just eat them out of the bowl.:ninja: Ok, go ahead and tell me I'm crazy now! :flower:
OH dates are my new favorite thing too! Better and sweeter than candy bars. But they're high in calories so I try not to have a lot of them. They're great brain food too.

I love a spoonful of peanut butter as a snack.YUM.Maranatha is the best.
I was paranoid of the dentist when I was younger, so now it's up to me to pay for the braces.I had my wisdom teeth out too and got dry sockets,I was too nervous to really eat for a while after that.
I miss crunchy food so much! Have some carrots for me,ok?!

^Ok! :) But you'll be able to have them soon enough, don't worry!
I just realized too that I have a serious nut and dried fruit problem....I think I need a program or something.

Oh no...well at least it isn't four years like mine. Haha I meant like an AA program, I'm really going overboard with my nuts and fruit. I find myself just staring at the bags and bags of nuts and dried fruit at Trader Joe's and making up tons of different mixes in my kitchen. Right now I have Brazil nuts, walnuts, dried orange flavored cranberries, regular dried cranberries, currants, raisins and dried figs. I know nuts are good for you but I can't stop eating them and then that's not good for me. Too much fat. I also have a dehydrator that I have yet to use...I'm afraid of what I will do with that...dried fruit for years!

Wow a dehydrator?! I'd be making a ton of dried ginger all the time! How much was that? I really want a juicer, but they are too pricey :-(

I'm not sure, I got it as a Christmas present. But I think this is the one I have from Target http://www.target.com/Nesco-Snackma...&qid=1268551024&sr=1-1&rh=k:dehydrator&page=1

I want to start juicing too. I eat a lot of grapefruits and I would rather drink them since they're so juicy. My mom has a juicer so I'll have to test hers out first.
Hey, you know what I have been dying to try? Wasabli popcorn. I know it sounds weird but it would be so good...

eeeeeeew
I can't stand those tastes,wasabi,tahini,li hing moi,but that's just me.

Just olive oil?? I would imagine that would be slippery!

I love wasabi, not a lot of it but a little is good. Blue Diamond came out with Wasabi almonds. And I like wasabi peas.

I tried sprinkling Cinnamon on popcorn once...it didn't work out so well.
