The What to Wear Where? Thread

I'm moving to London for university this fall :woot: (well, outer London to be exact)

I really want to go to London/Scotland now... actually I'm thinking strongly about college there and this would be a good chance to see if I like it

Southerncutie,

as a born and bred londoner I am very proud of the place but it does depend how much you need the sun! It is 30 degress celsius today but it is July, we do tend to suffer from grey skys probaly more than where you come from!

thanks katy.

and just to add my 2 cents, i really loved scoland while i was there in edinburgh!! I would definitely live there.

What to wear to a christening?

Help! I'm also becoming Godmother and I'm not sure what to wear as I've never been to one before or a wedding or anything else in a church!

I was speaking to the mother and she's either going to wear pastels or monochrome but I'd like to have more ideas on ensembles rather then just colours.

Thanx in advance!

I see you're in London ... is the Mom wearing a hat? I would think a conservative, feminine dress and heels would be appropriate. Let me see if I can find an example ...

saksfifthavenue.com, Escada, something like this but without the animal print, preferably, and with shoes more like peep-toe slingbacks:

Wear a conservative dress (or a dressy, conservative skirt and top) with nice shoes. Basically, your "Sunday Best."

I'd avoid anything strapless for inside a church. I'd also avoid wearing black because it's too somber for an event like a christening.

What to wear to a fashion parade???

I have got to go to this charity fashion parade night and i have no idea what to wear... its going to be cool weather wise and its near a beach. Also there are going to be an after party....
Please any suggestion or even example of pic would be FANTASTIC!
thank you

i'd say a skirt or preferably a dress...

you can wear jeans every day of the week...
why would you wear them to something lilke this?...

hope you have fun...:flower:

thank you...
Yea there are going to be tsubi clothing being modeled, so there will be tsubi ppl there... so thats sorta why i was thinking jeans.
But i think i might make myself sum little dress thing with a square-ish necklace.
Thank you so much softgrey

Or wear a nice silk or satin singet with skinny jeans and long chain necklaces with pumps :ermm:

yea but the thing is that i dont have any of that stuff and like no money... so im really buggered...
But i was thinking of just making a little dress and wearing black lacey leggings and im not sure about either flats or heels....

sometime the more classic and basic a look the fresher at a show

for example- Nicky hiton wears long black singlets with jeans and heels :ermm:

Yea maybe i just dont want to look boring or anything, i want to look more sexy and out going!!

yeah...
and you definitley DON'T want to look like nicky hilton...:ninja:

...

do the dress...but not the lace leggings....just plain is better...
flats or heels are both good...if it's the beach though...
i'd stick with a flat...
flats are HUGE right now!!...

:flower:

the only real reason i was thinking about wearing lace leggings is because of the weather...
Yea i think it will end up being easier in flat, just incase i get a bit tipsy:innocent:

I'm not sure what kind of style you have... but these are just ideas what I would wear...

- Tsubi is funky/rock, right? I reckon toss fashion to the wind and opt for some glam thongs. Try the new gold and silver from Haviana (sp?) brand. Comfy and practical a beach launch. Myabe carry some heels in your bag if you want more glam for the after party?

- If your cash-strapped, why not browse vintage stores.Try for a plain top/patterned bottom (or opposite). Bonus - it's cheap and only you'll be wearing it!

- Jeans for occasions are old news. EVERYONE has done the 'jeans and the glam top' combo for years now. Be different and make an impact! Why not try a long sleeved shirt and a mini-skirt do the proportions, but opposite to what everyone expects? Or try a plain top, with a flashy, intricate, lace skirt?

- Print dresses are fab. Maybe like Mary-Kate Olsen ?

- If thongs are too casual, try flats with a mini dress.

- Also, heap on the jewellary - wooden, chunky bracelets and long, layered necklaces. If your having trouble finding long enough chains, try linking two together.

Sorry that all the pics are Olsen. They are fab icons (althought getting lesser so) because they're more obscure than Kate Moss/Sienna/Nicole Richie/SJP/all the regulary ones. [Credit for all pics : MKA'S STYLE http://groups.msn.com/mkasstyle]

Hope maybe that gives you some more ideas?
