in general though I think londoners are more conscious of trends. americans tend to be really casual...london is a bit dressier.

for example, many things that are my own style (like a delicate vintage dress) I'd not want to wear for a day out sightseeing in london, because I wouldn't want to risk ruining it. or a pair of impractical shoes that are utterly adorable in suburbian america when you can hop in your car to get around would not do at all for a long day touring around london by foot.
