i have a really hard time with my mj dress from last summer. It has lots of white/beige/black pieces kind of scattered and layered to look like I'm wearing several torn up shirts. I try to take it off carefully but still sometimes the layers get tangled up and it is so frustrating and takes forever to get it untangled

^ Sounds like it wasn't designed well to me ... to me the best things are designed thoughtfully so that you come to appreciate the garment more & more after you buy it & as you wear it ... do you know what I mean?

Was your dress on the runway? Maybe you can post a pic ... perhaps there's a way to make it easier for you.

I love the dress in that it's not too dressy but still unique, but your right its not well designed. here is a pic from the runway, and looking at a pic i took when i just got it i just realized i was wearing it wrong then too, although when it really get tangled up its unwearable.

^ I thought that was the one you meant & I can see where it would be a problem ...

What about Saran Wrap? :ninja: Loosely wrapped ... Or safety pins? Something to stabilize the dress before you pull it off ...

Have you seen the way movers use plastic wrap? They used it to move my potted roses without getting killed by the thorns ...

GG, it looks much better on you than on the runway. you make look artsy casual, not rigid. what's to worry, take your time putting it on (maybe you'll discover a new way to wear it) and just dont take it off until the day is over.

haven't been wearing my avant garde pieces so much lately...
don't want to work that hard these days....

still love them...but just don't have the energy to play 'dress up' right now...

starting to miss it now though...especially after reviewing this thread...

^_^

* i have a few marni pieces that i really need help with...
i need to either figure it out or get rid of them!>..

still trying to figure out how best to wear the Y's jumper i have...
the straps are just too long...
i have to adjust that before i can do anything else i think...

:ermm:

^i still like the idea of a little black leather jacket and combat boots or lace up booties...:flower:

i'm really feeling laces right now for some reason.

err..you clearly missed my post in the etc thread...
i just commented that i don't own a pair of combat boots...
...

in fact- i posted that RIGHT AFTER i posted this...
so, i guess i am feeling them too...

funny!
^_^

indeed....^_^

i was actually referring to something i posted earlier in this thread about what luckyme might wear with her Y's apron dress....but i think the same idea would work with the jumper.

it doesn't even have to be a combat boot i was thinking, just some sort of lace up...the sort of thing Limi wears quite often. :innocent:

you must have something like that, no? with a low heel maybe? :P

like a granny boot?
well--- i have some older pairs...but i don't know if i like them anymore...
there is one that might work but i think i have to change the laces on them...
i put grosgrain ribbon instead of laces...
but i don't think it's working anymore...

i need to figure out where to buy some cool shoelaces...
:ermm:...

don't they sell those in shoe repair shops? or fabric places?
I don't have many shoes with shoelaces, but I've bought a string that's not a shoelace, but I'll use it like one.. Maybe it's easier to find cool laces than shoelaces...

in this case...i specifically want shoelaces...
there are a few at the shoemaker...but just basics...
i'm going to search online to see who has a bigger selection...

i just remembered that my friend who is a designer was telling me that she gets her drawstrings for her jackets and pants sent from japan...
she might know a good resource...!!!...
:woot:

a streamlined granny boot, yes, i guess that's what i was imagining...:flower:
or maybe those lace up VB's from a few seasons back?
or in a different vein, i could even imagine something like this...

i suppose you are more troubled by the rest of the outfit though...
don't know why i am so obsessed with the footwear.

those are nice...
that's a VERY 90's heel, isn't it?!?...
...
i wonder what i have in my collection that might be along those lines...

laika, those boots may just be the new ideal for a simple black lace up boot :-), and marsell too, which can be so ugly when they go astray. as long as i can remember, i have worn combat boots with anything and everything but avant garde seems to fit the profile for them more easily then other genres.

soft, there use to be a little isolated shop in grand central, downstairs near the track entrances that had a glorious selection of shoelaces but last time i was there i couldnt find them. bummer...

^i actually wanted to post guidis (you know the ones!)
but i couldn't find a pic off the bat...

the marsells are pretty good...i know what you mean though lucky, the heels in particular can be really bad sometimes. i was surprised by the (90's) simplicity of these. :P

this thread and the news of tao's line closing remind me that i have a knit
from a/w 08 that i adore but have yet to wear...must scrounge up some pics
and solicit advice.
