Lift Etage in Tokyo opened on Feb. 28, 2004. This unique shop transmits a strong message to their customers, always delights fashion people and delivers a pleasurable moment with their well selected items (around 20 brands) and interesting atmosphere. The concept of Lift is to convey the designer's concept, by introducing the messges and ideas behind their design in various inventive ways within the shop.
At their start in 1993, the shop's focus was mainly American designers, such as John Bartlett and Gene Meyer, but nowdays their line-up has evolved to mostly European high fashion brands. Since its opening, Lift Etage has presented one or two exhibitions every season.
'Project 7' is a series of projects which features a particular designer and allows that designer to create something that comes from his pure desire without the pressure of any business matter. Apart from 'Project 7', Lift Etage has featured other collaboration projects as well. Gustavo Lins and Fatto A Mano have presented their works in the past. Actually, Fatto A Mano's work is still installed in the shop. A wooden wall that has a big human silhouette cut out of its center stands at the entrance. Through this big hole you can see the other side of the space; the effect is quite interesting and it really expresses another facet of the shop. In November 2005, Munoz Vrandecic exhibited his first furniture collection at Lift Etage. The aim of these projects is to create curiosity and to appeal to customers through exposing the contents of the designer's hidden mind. Lift Etage is an orchestration of over 10 years experience which inspires you to go back time and again.
