french tickler

yes. well... the title was only to get your attention... got it didn't i. (what a naughty grilllll I AM! )

new to this site--actually was doing a search for L'Eclaireur and found you! In a "mass/random job search application" exercise, I happened to apply for a job at L'Eclaireur...I landed an interview with them next week. Unfortunately (in my "mass application" mode), I couldn't remember what the company was (or what position I was applying for!). Thus, was looking for a bit more back-ground info... got it now. Shoppe Girl. Yes. I am too old for this job...but I am in Tokyo without a source for funding, and anything (fashion related) will do!!

So... wish me luck! hope to see you in the shoppe soon!

anyway... I like this site. i just moved to Tokyo 3.5 months ago from Seattle. Where i had a clothing label. and hope to continue here!

any tips? ideas??

i'm near ginza and fairly "connected" ??

Just back from a short stay in Tokyo. Jan 8 was the first day Cdg marked down the items. There were more than 200 people fighting for clothes at the little Cdg and Junya corner inside Isetan Men at 10am. It's just amazing !!!

raphy although I'm not sure what you mean by vintage designer stuff, you can see it at loveless, vermeerist beams, etc.
YSL, Vivienne, etc
but they don't have much.

it depends on each piece. but it's not super expensive there on the whole.

I don't have any specific names unfortunately, but if you have the chance to wander around areas like Ura-Harajuku and also Koenji (and even Daikanyama, Shimokitazawa or Shibuya), you will come across stores with excellent deals. Many of them look unassuming and "thrifty" from the outside but carry racks of great vintage designer stuff...I almost bought a beautiful 70's Valentino dressy knit for about 50$ last week at Koenji. You'll need some time and patience, but they will be cheaper than famous stores like Loveless, where you'll be certain of finding interesting stuff, but will be paying extra for having the pieces pre-chosen.

Lift Etage in Tokyo opened on Feb. 28, 2004. This unique shop transmits a strong message to their customers, always delights fashion people and delivers a pleasurable moment with their well selected items (around 20 brands) and interesting atmosphere. The concept of Lift is to convey the designer's concept, by introducing the messges and ideas behind their design in various inventive ways within the shop.

At their start in 1993, the shop's focus was mainly American designers, such as John Bartlett and Gene Meyer, but nowdays their line-up has evolved to mostly European high fashion brands. Since its opening, Lift Etage has presented one or two exhibitions every season.

'Project 7' is a series of projects which features a particular designer and allows that designer to create something that comes from his pure desire without the pressure of any business matter. Apart from 'Project 7', Lift Etage has featured other collaboration projects as well. Gustavo Lins and Fatto A Mano have presented their works in the past. Actually, Fatto A Mano's work is still installed in the shop. A wooden wall that has a big human silhouette cut out of its center stands at the entrance. Through this big hole you can see the other side of the space; the effect is quite interesting and it really expresses another facet of the shop. In November 2005, Munoz Vrandecic exhibited his first furniture collection at Lift Etage. The aim of these projects is to create curiosity and to appeal to customers through exposing the contents of the designer's hidden mind. Lift Etage is an orchestration of over 10 years experience which inspires you to go back time and again.
