The main protagonist in the most over-profiled relationship of the century, Tom Cruise, has reportedly come out and begged his ex-wife Nicole Kidman to come to his and Katie Holmes' wedding.

The star, whose new film War of the Worlds recently opened at cinemas across the country and was recently sprayed with water in a Channel 4 prank has asked Kidman to attend, as it would set an example to their two adopted children, Isabella, 11 and Connor, 9.

Nicole, however, seems less than enthused by the prospect of attending and remains sceptical about Tom and Katie's relationship in general.

A friend of Nicole's told the Sun: "Nicole has voiced her concerns about the relationship already."

"Like everybody else, Nicole thinks there has been too much publicity surrounding the whole thing when they both have films to promote."

The couple have not announced when the wedding will be, but it is widely expected to be held before the end of the year.
