i know i'm in for it, but:
Balmain jackets, Balenciaga shoulders, certain ankle boots, and the fashion editor look in general. the clothes are so rigid that they seem like they can hold their shape when they're not being worn. i'm sick of the silhouette of broad shoulders and no hips.
plaid shirts
Balmain
Alexander Wang
and especially the high-street rip off's of these two.
and definitely the girls that in their collective consciousness consider Decarnin a genius.
The only thing genius about these trends is how the people behind them have managed to promote them so well.
I love plaid shirts. But I've loved plaid shirts for many many years and have now had to put mine away because I'm sick of seeing them everywhere. Depressing.
there's another trend that really irks me!
I'm pretty sure some will know what I'm talking about.
Girls are bleaching the front part of their hair,
and the back side is dyed jet black or dark brown. IMO, it looks nasty!
I'm sick of trends in general. Why can't people just wear what they like and feel good in without being concerned about who else is wearing it or talking about it or what some Ragazine (not misspelled) thinks?
Why are people concerned with buying new clothes every few months just because something new hits the stores? Unless you outgrow it or it gets damaged, who cares if you wear it for several years?
Because fashion is a business that is all about recycling the same ideas over and over, and selling people what they do not need, but think that they must possess? It is a pseudo-need tied to vanity, aesthetics and materialistic happiness.
The only way to sell the different versions of the same stuff is to repackage them under a larger umbrella called 'trends.'
That is why they matter, and are relevant.
