UK Elle March 2010 : Liv Tyler by Rankin

No Naomi covers anywhere. I've checked all of the usual places the special edition covers go to, and none have had it. The only one I haven't tried so far is RD Franks.

its such a shame. the subscribers copy came today for me what a hideous cover.

It's such a shame they didn't go with the mock up the cover shot they've used at the back of the magazine, in the beauty section. It looks amazing.

I like Liv, so I sat down to read her interview...and well, there's nothing there! Just a serious of rather stupid questions Elle subscriber's are meant to have e-mailed in, and it doesn't take up more than one page of the magazine? Pointless.

it was like with natalie portman. hardly any questions asked, like they dont want to be interviewed. i wish they could do more model covers like milana keller's last year that was beautiful

Naomi's ed, I'm sorry to say, bores me to death. I wish it hadn't been a studio shoot, and even more so, that it hadn't been a themed studio shoot. All the white is just disinteresting, especially against the bland background, and really no amount of post-Photoshop light effects will make mediocre photography any better. Naomi looks fantastic though, regardless of this commercial, borderline catalogue-esque mess. Why they didn't, couldn't or wouldn't do more with her, therefore, is beyond me.

I really like the last picture of Liv -- her face is truly gorgeous. The second picture isn't bad either, but I really don't understand why UK Elle insists to use cover shots inside also. Both the subscriber's and newsstands' cover shots inside? Instead of two completely new shots? Or even just one? Really? I have a hard time believing that there were really no other print-worthy photos among her outtakes than these, and it's really rather disappointing to find the cover shots inside also, considering how few photos there are inside to begin with.

Yes, it seems Liv's editorial and mini-interview would have made a nice feature amongst the rest of the content, but it's not enough to sustain a cover story, and definitely not for a March issue.

Wait a second. Reading tigerrouge's ^^ comment, I just had a bit of a revelation there. I only now realized Liv's feature actually reads "Stylephile", as in the new celebrity series UK Elle has going for them:

In the March issue of ELLE we are launching Stylephile. It’s the chance for you, the reader, to question our A-list cover stars and celebrities and we have a whole host of great Stylephile interviewees lined up for 2010.

I would never have expected this to result in a cover feature. No wonder it feels so comparatively underwhelming.

Strange that Naomi's cover hasn't surfaced already. There isn't anything about it printed in the magazine.
I remember in the March 2009 issue, there was a page that advertised the designer covers. Subscribe2.co.uk, also had a small space advertising the covers.

I was talking about Naomi's cover with McQueezy earlier, and think it's likely it'll surface for Fashion week. When Naomi will be fund-raising and holding her show..

Also the last Limited Edition covers were designed for 25 years of Fashion Week, and were made available during Fashion Week also..

The paper also states Naomi is to get the Outstanding Contribution award at the Elle Style Awards. I imagine it'll surface on newstands soon. Although wasn't Boris' actually only given out to people at Fashion Week and never available to buy...?

Really nice cover, shame their main covers aren't like that. The effects are really nice.

I think it's a big let down personally, I can't say it's going to be a cover I'm going to go out of my way to track down. Much prefer Liv's.
