US Harper's Bazaar June / July 2010 : Katherine Heigl by Alexi Lubomirski

why cant bazaar be like Italian Vogue with just ont headline?

Ah, Bazaar for seniors. Because we're all 80 and need giant headlines.

seems like they were given one issue to cram a lifetime of blurbs lmao

It looks very US Vogue/Testino as everyone has mentioned. I quite like the lighting, it's not too over satured and as in your face (well there is the text...) as usual.

us bazaar plagiarizing us vogue? mmh, they could have chosen a better example... :innocent:
katherine's smile is soooo huge i could bet her jaw was about to drop while she was photographed. insincere smiles quite put me off anyway.
i'm no longer hopeful when it comes to bazaar so i daren't even think 'hope the content is worthwile.'...

I have absolutely no hope that this issue will be any bigger than it would be as a monthly one. If things are that bad at a major US magazine that we're getting a combined issue, then I can't see it being a bonanza of content, despite them saving on printing/distribution/etc costs for one month.

it's a nice cover, but their content is not so good lately. hope to see something new.

I can imagine the meetings that took place for this cover.

Team Bazaar: Lets take some pictures of an actress who is still annoying yet isn't totally over exposed.

Glenda: Will it look Vogue?

Team Bazaar: Yes but not too Vogue. Think Vogue-lite, Vogue-esque, Voguey.

Glenda: Sounds good...a little too good.

Team Bazaar: Well we can overload the cover with text?

Glenda: I like, but we've got to go a step further.

Team Bazaar: An ugly red banner?

Glenda: Keep going...

Team Bazaar: We could throw in the fabulous at every age thing we do every month...maybe make sure that the cover text doesn't match the image color scheme at all?

Glenda: Excellent. Brilliant. Frozen yogurt for everyone!

Then there is a dance party with lots of fro-yo.

Yes. You read that correctly. They work hard and they play hard.

HILLARIOUS ... that is ROTFL material ... lv it!!!

I looked at this issue on the newsstand, but didn't buy it. I just couldn't bear to purchase something with Heigl on the cover. The issue itself looks fairly standard - colorful edit with Jablonski, a piece on Roberto Cavalli, a studio edit with a girl who I can't remember at the moment, not that much else... The issue was surprisingly thin for a double issue.

Pity that the issue is so thin. Two editorials are surely not enough for a double issue. Looking forward to Constance's ed, though. She's been on a roll recently and I always love her print work.

If they're gonna do a double issue they might as well put edgier stuff. Again, the pictures aren't that bad. But I can't f*cking stand her.

p.s. Can't hate on her black and white photo. That was just New Look kind of fierce.

I'm surprised that after four days there haven't been more comments on this issue here than this (though yes we've also only seen the cover so far). Could it really be -- a US Bazaar cover that is passable enough to not be worth ripping on? Or did people finally lose the little faith they had left in the magazine last month to be bothered with new issues. ^_^

Amazing what a bit of background can do to a cover shot. Thank God, then, that they managed to cover most of it with an unparalleled text overload of ugly.
