US Vogue April 2025 : Gigi Hadid by Annie Leibovitz

Well a performer could be...good or bad is another story...lol
I said it again, she is better for television...i could see her in a new version of House Of Style...
But as a model is it weird that you were better when you started...or she felt outshined by Bella?

Letā€™s be for real now, Bella may be the better model now, but she is nowhere near as big as Gigi is. Gigi is the 2nd highest paid model, the model who has appeared on most US covers (newgen) and has 54 Vogue covers under her belt, along with thousands of campaigns. It took Bella around 10 years to get her first US cover. I remember in 2016-2018, she was stunning, her work was somewhat decent and she had so much more popularity in certain countries than Bella, whereas Bella was known as her sister and started improving in 2018. I donā€™t think she felt outshined, she just stopped putting in effort.

When Gigi started I considered her too pretty and very obvious to become a succesful fashion model. Ten years after I have to admit that she is a top model and I respect that.

To me Gigi, Kendall, and the other girls are a (not so) new different type of model. Not the classic one, the high fashion or even from the commercial group. They're just beautiful girls, with a huge fandom due social media, that came from famous or rich families and they have best position as "models" because you can see how hard the leaders of the fashion industry are pushing for them, with Anna as the head of it, because they can make lots of money with them. But also they're far skilled from other girls that share this moment, like Vittoria, Anok, Lulu, which deserves better places as the highest paid fashion models instead of them, if we keep the honors from the pre-2014 era. I never hated the Hadids, even I find Bella the most talented model of that group, with Kaia. Gigi looks different now, she was someone to look in her early years. Working with Meisel or being the face of the former big 4 ten years ago was a nice gig. Now she's still better than Kendall (which a few times takes great photos, like past year Vogue cover), but more closer to her in terms of energy. She should look back at some of the pictures she made, like that French Vogue cover (by Mert and Marcus if I'm not wrong). Also it's not their total fault. I blame the people that push them brutally, no matter how bad the quality of the photos are. They are the ones that told some of these girls "you can model, let's make some money with you", and they agree. I find Lila as the most notorious example now, and I feel sorry for what they're doing with that girl. Magazines are dying. Young people won't buy one, unless they find their favorite star there, and share the cover online (if they don't pick the print magazine) to make them viral. There's so many things wrong here.
