US Vogue August 2021 : Dr. Jill Biden by Annie Leibovitz

It's by the books and very much what you'd expect for a First Lady cover, but it's still very lovely. A gorgeous portrait that captures her warmth and essence perfectly.

Good for Miss Biden, but I hate this. It looks like Grazia - just change the fonts, switch up the layout a little and voila.

It is indeed very on-brand for Vogue, but when it comes to political covers Michelle stays winning in my books.

I think Dr Biden at 70 is the oldest Vogue cover star, right? Meryl Streep is 72 now and she was photographed in 2017...

It's also worth noting that Dr Biden was a model back in the 1970's and appeared in advertisements.

I think ODLR is the perfect choice - here's a VF piece on how the brand has outfitted first ladies from Nancy Reagan until now.

I'm glad Vogue waited until Dr Biden was actually in the White House to be photographed. Remember how Michelle Obama's first Vogue cover was rushed and she was photographed at a hotel before moving into the White House?

It isn't much of a cover shot - it looks like she's loitering on the balcony while someone finishes tidying the room and then she'll go back inside. My eye wanders to all the features around her. Half the shot is taken up by the pillar, just in case you didn't know where she was, with sight of the other landmarks crammed into the space that's left over.

It seems inoffensive, which I suppose is a win, when it comes to magazines these days.

Despite being photographed by Annie Leibovitz, this feels very pedestrian and unworthy of Vogue but Anna Wintour always loves banal cover images from time to time and we just have to endure them. That being said, as @Marc10 perfectly said, I do feel the image has captured Jill Biden's warmth!

It´s ok imo but I´m not expecting much from this type of cover, hope that there´s at least one decent editorial...

Not terribly exciting but still a lovely cover + editorial of the First Lady and her family. I'll take this!

While it doesn't exactly scream "fashion", these are all kind of lovely photos and the cover feels like an authentic portrait that captures Dr. Biden's character. In an era when we're getting recycled content across multiple editions and some new gimmick or overexposed "star" every month from most magazines, there is something really welcome and very American Vogue about a classic, exclusive portrait from Annie of the First Lady. Definitely will be picking up an extra copy or two, and seeing this reminds me it's a shame Annie wasn't asked to do the Vice President's cover earlier this year.

Beautiful cover of our beautiful FLOTUS.
Pictures inside are lovely as well.
Good job Anna.

It's soooooooo cliché OMG ahahah:
- the fake photo where she's working
- the fake-ish family portrait that is SUPER campy ahaha
- the dancing couple photo
= it's clearly made for the middle aged women so no problem with that, if that's Vogue loyal and current readers however we know that Anna is doing this now and then next month it's someone like Cardi B or Billy whatever his name is lol NOPE.

Kamala's cover was bad styling wise but seeing this one now... Well... I'm not sure which one I'd prefer.
