US Vogue November 2009 : Marion, Penelope, Nicole and Kate by Annie Leibovitz

I love the idea of this, but I just think it's a prime example of when Photoshopping has been taken too far. For me it's a shame, because I think it's a certainly a great idea, and the shot had amazing potential.

This just looks really bad.

Absolutely no chemistry between any of them, the lighting is so off, and they all look horrible for some reason.

I like the idea, but the 'cut-out' around their heads - and something about the lighting - makes it look like they've been photoshopped in from a different shoot, even though they were there.
I totally agree.

It's an interesting departure though.

Terrible photoshopping. What the heck did they do to Nicole!?
On the bright side, I'm happy that Marion is on the cover.

Nicole's face looks like it comes from another body, it's been badly comped together.

I like the colors and the set. But oh, yes, photoshop can be used too much

If I could have one wish, it would be for Nicole, Penelope, and Kate to melt away before the cover hit the stands, leaving Marion to grace the cover alone (and exquisitely).

And Leibovitz butchers another US Vogue cover!! After making the First Lady look like The Grinch, she takes the worlds leading A-list actresses, and makes them look like they are starring in a re-make of Valley of the Dolls--> The Botox Edition!

Their last celeb gorup cover was that of the Spice Girls, which although its not perfect either, is miles better, and more sincere than this crap!

I'm shocked at how they've made three stunning women (and Kate Hudson) look so utterly terrible.

this thread  .. esp. the frenchy's photo in the first page.. I'll probably buy this for a good laugh.

I feel like some comments in here are a tad to dramatic, but then when it comes to American Vogue i know people love to get it out. And i certainly disagree that the Spice Girls cover is somehow better than this one. Its just a studio background shot!

I'm really excited to see Nine, but like everyone else I think there's too much photoshop on the cover. Hopefully the inside will be better.

Good cover i like about the diferent but very Vanity Fair to me

^You know there is thread with release dated right?

I like the feel of the cover opposed to the usual stuff they do......but......Nicole looks mighty odd, I don't like Marion with that hair colour. Kate Hudson blah blah blah, and the only who looks good here is Penelope.

EDIT: On second glance was Kate Hudson even there.....she looks like she's just been tagged onto the pic.

God, this cover is horrendous.

Annie Leibovitz is the worst abuser of photoshop it is not even funny. I seriously can't even look at her photographs, they give me headaches they are so fake and hazy.

People, Annie Leibovitz is not to blame for this photoshop disaster. As we saw in The September Issue, it is the team at US Vogue that is responsible for editing, photoshopping and 'fixing' the photographs. Annie merely sends in the best shots of the day and then its carte blanche for the US Vogue team to do what they like.

You just know that old fat man who works in the editing room (his name evades me) did something stupid in the editing process or suggested that one of those "necks looks better with that head" :innocent:

And frankly, if the final decision rests with Anna, she should be embarassed for her consistent poor selection of cover shots (the Gwenyth-robot-cover anyone?). It's a shame though, because having Marion on the cover is pretty exciting. Is she the first French actress to be on the cover?
