BIG NAMES FOR A FAREWELL BOW: For the final ad campaign to be published before Valentino retires, the brand tapped a top model duo of the Nineties — Amber Valletta and Shalom Harlow — as well as Raquel Zimmermann, Anja Rubik, Michael Gandolfi and Oriol Elcacho. Harper's Bazaar editor at large Brana Wolf styled the colorful campaign, shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin at a private home in Los Angeles. Raul Martinez, chief executive officer and executive creative director at AR, said the campaign was shot in L.A. because of the connection Valentino has had with Hollywood throughout his 40-year career. "I think one of the key pieces that we were striving for with this campaign was to make the Valentino woman feel more grounded, still stylized but not totally untouchable," Martinez said. "You still feel the glamour that is the Valentino brand, but it's done in a more contemporary way." The campaign breaks in the February issue of Vanity Fair.

it doesn't matter if I could see the girls' pretty faces or not, the face-hidden concept catches me, which is making the campaigns so Valentinoly elegant

Reminds me of Prada s/s 01, with all the models faces behind big beach parasols.

This isn't as good though, it's slightly Bourdin-esque but without any of the subversion.

yah exactly. it seems like inez&vinoodh has been under a lot of bourdin's influence lately.

i love the glasses ones of anja! looks good.
oh wasnt oriol elcacho supposed to be in em????

i only like 2 could have been soooooo much better!!!

loves it. no models for the fanatics to fawn over. just the clothes and accesories.

should be done more often!

and i guess the models were really picked for their abilities to present garments in a desireable way and not just their pretty faces.

edit:

and then i saw the other pics and got disappointed again.

interesting , why the first pics from Us vogue jan 2008 are not included in the campaign. there are different from the campaign but its still the same thing , and i suppose that the only place where they were published its us vogue jan...

I adore the colour scheme of the campaign, the ensembles look absolutely exquisite.
But I thought Amber was supposed to be in these.

Yeah that is strange.
I actually like those pictures better than this actual campaign. The only good picture is the group shot.

some shoot are not bad, but some pics they look strange (maybe their body pose)?
