Vanity Fair September 2014 : Natalia Vodianova by Mario Testino

Stunning. I don't see the photoshop problem...
I like the retro vibe, like a Hollywood star of the 40.

Well I'm happy with any model getting the cover of a major American magazine (especially when it's Natalia). That being said I like the cover and editorial as well so this is a must get for me.

I think I'd be able to appreciate this much more if it were shot by another photographer.

I'm more into the idea in theory than the actual cover...Testino's editing team are really doing his work no favours, well it could just be that he sucks too!

At least we have a model on another US September cover and it's always a pleasure to see Natalia; even though another snapper could have made this sub-par portrait classic! Sad.

This is like seeing a movie you were excited about only to discover it has no plot and terrible cinematography.

I hope the contents are interesting, though from the subjects listed on the cover it doesn't seem like it.

Oh well, maybe there will be a compelling article about a random topic, I can usually count on VF for that.

Cover is fine... rest of the photos are terrible! Bad lighting, photoshop, whatever.

oesn't seem like it.

Hahah so true, there is always at least 1 article i have to read in each issue. And yes, mostly its pretty random story.

I like that VF is embracing fashion for its September issue and the picture looks like something that actually fits with the mag, with the old Hollywood vibe.

The cover looks very Christmas-y to me. Probably the ribbon and the fur. But regardless, it's a very beautiful work. Natalia looks great. I'm really over her but I'd rather see her here than a dead celebrity.

It feels more like a december cover. but i think it's really quite gorgeous, actually. Natalia seems to me to be an odd choice, as she's pretty much been out of the fashion spotlight for the past few seasons -- but she's undoubtedly a fashion icon, so i suppose she's always relevant.

the editorial itself i'm kind of struggling with. i find it a bit lackluster and Natalia's crazy eyes in a few of the photos aren't helping. but the general sense of *meh* I'm feeling has less to do with her and more the photography itself.

Where is the change.org petition to overthrow Testino? His images have no substance. He is already a subpar photographer - not to forget that his retouching team hates him so much that they end up editing the photos in the most unscrupulous manner. He already ruined V's sex themed issue so why is it that he was hired for a cover with Natalia that could be much much better without his finger in it?

As much as I adore this editorial and one of my all-time favorite Natalia, a change of photographer would simply make a massive improvement. This is quite decent but then others can do much better.

The article on Natalia is really well done and worth a read.

^Love Grace and Helena's shots. That said, what on earth have they done on Helena's breasts? They look really odd.
