Versace F/W 11.12 : Saskia de Brauw, Candice Swanepoel & Sean O'Pry by Mert & Marcus

very powerful. i am curious to see how the rest of the images turn out and which outfits they highlight

So after all, it's Saskia. Not really excited about it, I still can't 'her' and in my opinion she does not fit the Versace aesthetics at all.

I think the whole sexy/unsexy discussion is so pointless...can I ask you something?Has a Prada campaign ever been sexy or seductive?Prada IS NOT a sexy brand and its campaign have always been extremely quirky and "different" but for Versace is like the opposite...sex appeal is the main theme of every collection (both Gianni's and Donatella) so what's the point of casting a girl who resembles a boy...does she look provocative or seductive?Nope...

This reminds me of the Versace campaign with Audrey Maynay(w/c is a very good thing, tbh.) Saskia looks good. But the background looks like a Window background. lol

people said a lot this ad looks so Cavalli, but, don't Cavalli and Versace share some sexy gene inside their brand culture???

I thought since it was a hideous collection itself already and Versace campaigns are always a big fail for me, that this was going to be just another bad one.
I was kind of shocked when I saw the first shot, because it is BEAUTIFUL!!! The shot of Sean is not as nice, but still great compared to what I'm used to.

the best campaign so far! (until i see miu miu of course!)
amazing styling! joe mckenna is just amazing! i love the medusa miniaudère. it is a bit too photoshopped but i don't really care because it is just so amazing...it looks so otherwordly, like someone said before, a bit post-apocalyptic.
m&m are such a great improvement after testino. this is just what versace needed, a breath of fresh air. saskia looks nice as well, although i would like to see more models, but saskia is just nice. she can pull this campaign by herself.

i can't wait to see this in print!

versace used to be all about sexiness but now it is not as evidenced by the last many collections and their ads for the past few seasons. if u read the interview with donnatella, u would have known that they are pushing for new frontiers not just all about sexiness and blondes.

so what i see is that versace is pushing their clothes towards other markets instead of just all about glamorous parties. versace has toned down on the sexiness so people can wear their clothes to less formal and glamorous events. their strategies are trying to appeal more towards new groups of client those that do not go after the raw sex appeal.

Versace has toned down the excessive tackiness, not the sexiness. The sex is still there, it's just not in your face anymore. If you can't see it, then I'm afraid that you simply just lack the imagination.

I believe the cast for this campaign was a choice between either a trio of insanely hot blondes or one androgynous girl. Very extreme choices, but there's no point in having a low-powered average in-the-middle cast. Since Versace has already done the blonde thing a million times, I believe they're going for something different and more original. I still don't like Saskia though, I just don't find her appealing.

To all of you saying Cavalli... it is CLEARLY a throw back late 90's campaign of Versace that Sunniva Stordahl, Maggie Rizer, Guinevere, Carolyn Murphy, Jade Parfitt and Audrey Marnay were in. It's even inspired by casting Saskia, an "alternative" looking model (like Audrey, Sunniva, Maggie, etc. were at the time), as opposed to a sexy blonde, but it still pulls of a different kind of sex appeal. That campaign was legendary. Not a Cavalli campaign from one or two or however many seasons ago  In fact, I wouldn't doubt that Cavalli campaign was also based on the fall '98 Versace campaign.

if u couldnt really understand what i was saying, then perhaps it is for your own good to read my post twice or three times or whatever it takes for u to fully comprehend my message instead of responding in a poor language and manner.

i didnt say the sexiness wasnt there, i stated versace has toned it down. i watch their shows from 2004 and 2007, and i see a big differences between that period compared to the shows between 2008 until the presence. versace then was so much sexier than now in almost every sense, from the cuts, the model choices and stages. the cut then was more feminine, soft, sexy, and more revealing than now. now i see their collections are a bit more hip, edgy, and less feminine. the model choices between the 2 periods are totally different. before every model looked glamorous and sexy, most of the girls had curves and boobs and now..........i dont think i need to explain more.

my taste and opinion are obviously different compared to yours, if u have somethign to say about it then please use an appropriate choice of words. dont give me that know-it-all and cocky attitude.

I'm literally on edge to see more. This is the Versace I love.
It's so very Gianni !!!

I have not been this excited by a Versace campaign (or any campaign) in years ! I cannot stop looking at it and I think Saskia is THE perfect choice to pull this off. Ah, this is sublime !!!

that Versace ad no doubt looks like a big influence but i sure don't get the medieval painterly vibe it exhibited with Mert and Marcus' coloring treatment of this campaign. it's not difficult to hazard that the shots lean more towards the Cavalli ad, seeing as it was M&M who also produced that one. it all depends on the person's point of view anyway, i find it rather pointless to insist on one's opinion of how a campaign should look like, regardless of whether the inspiration was 'legendary' or not.

as for the discussion of Versace's newfound androgynous appeal, i'm very much agreeable with Saskia so far, i've never warmed up to her but she makes a very pleasant change from the droidlike blonde models Versace has preferred with their last few ads. i can't even remember the last time a Versace ad was remotely sexy, for me that whole push stopped after Fall 2008 :ninja:

Amazing thus far. Saskia fits the brand quite well, surprisingly.

My comment was definitely not targeted at you individually, so sorry if it sounded like that. I've just had enough with people who claim that the brand's image has somehow decreased in sexiness just because there's less meat, cleavage and bling. The cuts are still there, the shapes are still there, the femininity is still there and the sexiness is definitely still there. It's just much more subtle, you just need to look further than just t*ts and as$. Just because it's not "revealing" doesn't mean it's not sexy, in fact revealing clothes are often very sl*tty.
The models issue has been churned and chewed a million times, but you're right.

WELCOME BACK VERSACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love what i see and the colours are just so amazing. It is like looking at a painting

Mert and Marcus rocks! always

Then another thing...what's the connection between the background and the clothes? :ninja:

That feathered dress is so delicate and bright but putting it in such heavy and dark space...it looks so out of place!
