Ugh I hate this. I like Saskia.. but the concept really doesn't work for me here.
)I think the whole sexy/unsexy discussion is so pointless...can I ask you something?Has a Prada campaign ever been sexy or seductive?Prada IS NOT a sexy brand and its campaign have always been extremely quirky and "different" but for Versace is like the opposite...sex appeal is the main theme of every collection (both Gianni's and Donatella) so what's the point of casting a girl who resembles a boy...does she look provocative or seductive?Nope...
versace used to be all about sexiness but now it is not as evidenced by the last many collections and their ads for the past few seasons. if u read the interview with donnatella, u would have known that they are pushing for new frontiers not just all about sexiness and blondes.
so what i see is that versace is pushing their clothes towards other markets instead of just all about glamorous parties. versace has toned down on the sexiness so people can wear their clothes to less formal and glamorous events. their strategies are trying to appeal more towards new groups of client those that do not go after the raw sex appeal.
In fact, I wouldn't doubt that Cavalli campaign was also based on the fall '98 Versace campaign.Versace has toned down the excessive tackiness, not the sexiness. The sex is still there, it's just not in your face anymore. If you can't see it, then I'm afraid that you simply just lack the imagination.
I believe the cast for this campaign was a choice between either a trio of insanely hot blondes or one androgynous girl. Very extreme choices, but there's no point in having a low-powered average in-the-middle cast. Since Versace has already done the blonde thing a million times, I believe they're going for something different and more original. I still don't like Saskia though, I just don't find her appealing.
To all of you saying Cavalli... it is CLEARLY a throw back late 90's campaign of Versace that Sunniva Stordahl, Maggie Rizer, Guinevere, Carolyn Murphy, Jade Parfitt and Audrey Marnay were in. It's even inspired by casting Saskia, an "alternative" looking model (like Audrey, Sunniva, Maggie, etc. were at the time), as opposed to a sexy blonde, but it still pulls of a different kind of sex appeal. That campaign was legendary. Not a Cavalli campaign from one or two or however many seasons agoIn fact, I wouldn't doubt that Cavalli campaign was also based on the fall '98 Versace campaign.

if u couldnt really understand what i was saying, then perhaps it is for your own good to read my post twice or three times or whatever it takes for u to fully comprehend my message instead of responding in a poor language and manner.
i didnt say the sexiness wasnt there, i stated versace has toned it down. i watch their shows from 2004 and 2007, and i see a big differences between that period compared to the shows between 2008 until the presence. versace then was so much sexier than now in almost every sense, from the cuts, the model choices and stages. the cut then was more feminine, soft, sexy, and more revealing than now. now i see their collections are a bit more hip, edgy, and less feminine. the model choices between the 2 periods are totally different. before every model looked glamorous and sexy, most of the girls had curves and boobs and now..........i dont think i need to explain more.
my taste and opinion are obviously different compared to yours, if u have somethign to say about it then please use an appropriate choice of words. dont give me that know-it-all and cocky attitude.
