Versus S/S 11 Milan

i second and third and forth all those who said it is more kane than versus.
if it is a christopher kane collection, it's actually not so bad but could be better. as a versus collection it is out of place and confusing.

Why some looks remind me of Rodarte FW10? I personally think this collection would be prefect for last season but overall I like it. It's very him. But I'm not feeling it since it doesn't scream spring or summer.

I'm the only one who think Kane is destroying both Versace & Versus?

^ Well, whether you like it or not S/S 2011 was a step forward for Versace. I swear that collection has like mystical powers or something, I can't get over its beauty.
As for Versus I think the problem is simple: Too much Kane and not enough Versace.

I was surprised to learn that the plaid was taken from Versus' archives.

He said he and Versace found most of the prints in the Versus archives; they just upped the colors and added stretch mesh, as well as elongated the silhouettes, "to make it more today."

Besides that, this collection was a very strange move for the label. Aesthetically, I'm not convinced by what they were trying to communicate even though I loved the whole school-girl aesthetic. The question is; does this kind of 'strangeness' or conceptual drive work in favour for Versus? Isn't it supposed to be about straight-to-the-point clothing and fun, trendy fashion?

i'm enthralled right there with you.:crush:

I'm not sure about this collection. I love Christopher's work but he should do something Versace-esq in Versus collections. No?

I REALLY LOVE THE ACCESSORIES!!!!! THEY ARE SO GOOD!!!!!
Love the colour blocking mixing and the plaids satchels and the clutch!!!!! AMAZING!!!!:heart:

I actually thought his first few pieces for Versus, especially the small accessories collection, were really taking a step in the right direction; to be honest, even last season carried the perfect mix of Kane and Versace (even if it received mixed reviews). It's impossible to predict what a deceased designer would have done with a line were he alive, but I do think Donatella is on the money when she asserts that Christopher possesses a similar spirit as the late Gianni. I personally think this collection is a misstep, but I can think of few designers who fit the Versace universe better than Kane.

^ Oh for sure. Aesthetically speaking, Kane isn't the first choice for Versus, but he has an unmistakably fond eye for new trends. But I think this collection is taking a step too far into a completely different direction. When I first saw it I was in shock because it was just so Anti-Versus, but now I understand that Kane is just doing his thing.

WOW this is truly bad. This way too Christopher Kane and not enough Versace or Versus. In my ,min Versus is even younger, fresher, sexier and colorful than versace. Whats Up with all the plaid dresses ?? And the patchwork of color dresses are as bad IMO, the cuts are knock-off of his own collection and the colors look a bit bland. I was expecting an amzing show, but only the setting is exciting.

If Kane dare takeover Versace and make it look like this.....i will be VERY upset and i'm sure i'm not the only one!

He was doing great the first 2 seasons....what on earth happened i do not know but i am baffled that Donatella would allow these pieces to be presented to the public.

Versus , the Versace junior brand, revived by the British designer Christopher Kane, created a buzz — not least with its lively set of a child’s playground. But the clothes that walked the green grass were not wild child clothes that might have been shown on swings in the park. They were grow-up versions of Mr. Kane’s aesthetic, from his native Scottish plaid to cheeky short, full dresses.
But mostly the clothes were calm, long and even a little constricting, with over-the-knee hemlines on slim, elongated dresses.
What worked was the melange of plaid and tiny florals, which were in Gianni Versace’s repertoire back in the 1980s. There was a fresh feel, stemming from the fact that Mr. Kane was just a child during those early years.
The Milan season, which closed on Monday, was the strongest for a long period. Vivid color, a real attempt to change proportions with long skirts and a general feeling of summer joy permeated the shows. And if the 1970s revival was a tad too present, the major designers wisely left behind the past to build fashion’s future.

I find Suzy Menkes to be rather positive about most collections and I really like her critiques but not even her is going to make me like this. Sorry.

After seeing this in a better Quality, the details, the mix of fabrics and the accessories- i like it more. I think it looks actually cool and even chic or pretty.
