Vogue France October 2024 : Anok Yai by Mikael Jansson

The editorials are

La Saga des défilés which is the cover story and shared content

D’une Femme à une Autre the Angelina Kendall and Chemena Kamali story, also shared content

Mon précieux photos by Scott Trindle

En Pleine Nature Karolina Spakowski by Vitto Fernincola

Made in Normandie Celina Ralph by David Gómez-Maestre

Fan des Sixties Vittoria Cerreti by Angelo Pennetta, shared content

Overall the editorials are good imo and from skimming over everything else it seems to be a nice issue.

I believe the Karolina edit comes from September Vogue Italia, the Scott Trindle shoot is a jewellery edit at the front of current UK Vogue, and even a lot of the lesser features are reprints, which makes me wonder how much control any edition has over any aspect of their content.

Love this. Only small gripe is that the nail colour choice could have been better. Makes her fingers look long and contorted being too tonal.

Eye contact and would have been a favorite. Too bad is a reprint again, I can spot the other two models that were cropped. I can't believe France is using pictures taking from eds. Cover challenge was fun when it wasn't a real thing.

I'm not a fan, and not just because it's a reprint. Anok Yai looks sleepy here, the expression and setup of the shot doesn't scream cover-worthy to me. I like the Gucci dress and the beauty styling but this could've been fierce and it's far from it.

When you think how hard magazines once worked to ensure their covers hit all the right spots...

Even what we might have derided as the most generic of covers were carefully considered for their commercial impact, even if they were lacking any artistic aspect.

These days, you're lucky if you like the original editorial that the reprint was lifted from.

It still surprises me when I browse vintage magazines (especially ones published pre-internet, in general) how they feel like a true "experience" to lose yourself in. Nowadays, not so much! They're lucky if I flip through them. I bought the October issue of Vogue US for some reason last week and it's still sitting in the back seat of my car!
