Speechless!! Quite possibly the best September issue so far, and we've not even reached the HC supplement yet.
Bella's cover is so striking, memorable, and completely open to individual interpretation. None of these needed the fold-out, and apparently it's purely an advertising grab on VI's behalf, but every month??
Otherwise it looked like everyone else really went to town for this issue, even Comte and Carrozzini! Hate Rita Ora, but I love her feature. The third shot is quite good.
I'm more intrigued with McDean's feature. It's insanely cinematic, powerful, and filled mise-en-scène nuances to put Leibovitz to shame. Rianne and Abbey are very convincing as two 50's gangster molls. I haven't been this thrilled about his work in years. There's something about his women though, especially when he goes into storytelling mode. They're almost always so wretched and supplementary, even when it's all about them.
It pains me to say this, but Meisel's cover feature is actually the worst of the lot, imo.
