Vogue Paris December 2012/January 2013 : Carla Bruni Sarkozy by Mert & Marcus

I really liked the previous issue, it felt like an improvement, so after flipping through this issue i feel even more of a let down. The guest edited issue needs to have the soul of the person who did the job, like the issues with Coppola & Moss had, and many other ones. But here that is exactly what is missing, Bruni is such a stunning woman, and i always liked her as a model. But her photographs are soo void of any feeling or creativity, how many hat shots do we need?!!

None of the content feels like it was explored well enough, even those of with other Supers, it just seems empty, what a disappointment for a double issue. Sigh!

None of the content feels like it was explored well enough,

to some extend I agree with this... Helena's editorial looks half finished... almost feels like the end of the story is missing... I think two more conlusive shots could have ended so well the story that started so beautifully... first three shots are so cool...
same applies to Yasmin... the shots are very similar... and Carla's two editorials are very similar too...
having said that I think these amazing models still bring a lot to the issue... Christy's edit is nice .. it's like a crossroad between 80's and 90's which is fair enough if it did not invlove so much replication...
I know people say, it is repetitive but I love Malgosia editorial...

Why is Carla portrayed so wholesome...? It looks so plastic and lukewarm. Marpessa Hennink I´m always glad to see, more of her please.

Hey France, you ain't happy with the current (political, economic) situation, right ?
So let's celebrate X-Mas 2012 with our (UMP) ex First Lady who's now mostly known for being the A+List Bourgeoise parisienne and the most retouched woman on earth (I think she and Sheikha Mozah share the same surgeon, but it's better on Sheikha)...
Aren't you happy now ? It's full of conservative words from the mouth of a woman who used to insult publicly her current husband ...

I only like Christy and Yasmine editorial ...
to sum up, it's lackluster compared to Ms Roitfeld and all other old XMas issues ...

^Yasmin is such a GOOD model !!!
Everything is amazing about her !

Could somebody tell why there's a choreographer in Inez&Vinoodh editorial ?
Is this a first ? I doubt ... But that's the first time I'm paying attention to that detail.
The choreographer is Stephen Galloway, who's represented by The Collective Shift ... ;) :flower:

can't be beaten! Christy all the way!

Christy's editorial is as striking as one I adore which was published in French Glamour 1990's styled by Roitfeld (in her book too) with charcoal eye make up and Chanel bag "dog collar". One of my fave of hers and this new one is added to my list.
Love Yasmin's too. Helena's is a little too softy softy for me. Carla is radiant and really shows a warm side to her that we haven't seen in a while.

What a boring issue. I like the use of super models but they've chosen the ones I don't like.

Stephen Galloway is a regular I&V collaborator.

Such a bold choice considering she isn't that popular in France! Bravo Emanuelle!

Christy Turlington's edit has sold the entire issue for me. I just love each shot of Christy there, Geraldine's styling is enough to warrant main stories, I'm thrilled for her. Carla in front of Mert & Marcus has came out terrific, I prefer M&M's take, to Mario Sorrenti's. I'm amazed Inez & Vinoodh didn't do a set, though.

My one complaint about the issue is the Cadeaux section. It's just a bunch of pages with expensive gifts. The edit from the 2011 issue was brilliant and more fashion based, I was too expectant to see something similar or even better. Nonetheless, I think this is another impressive issue of Vogue Paris, which I look forward to getting.

Christy Turlington always bore me to tears, clearly she's still doing it to me after all this years, apart from that, great issue.

This is the the calendar photo from January. ANybody has got the full one?

I know it's reprints, but for me, Vogue Paris produces what is essentially a great Pirelli calendar, while the Pirelli calendar itself has started to resemble a sub-standard fashion editorial. It's like they've swapped places in the world.
