Vogue Paris December 2015/January 2016 : Vanessa Paradis

Are they doing that bad?

Last time I checked, 2015 saw a noticeable increase in sales for VP. So I, myself, am shocked with the sudden decrease in price...

Maybe things went downhill from the June/July issue, that was roundabout the same time they sent out questionnaires.

Maybe you should tell us which cover until June was the worst selling, dying to know......

Maybe they´re doing good and are trying to do better by having the price reduced. People could choose VP in a newsstand if the price is lower?
They get their profit with ads and the larger the circulation the more they could charge per page.

But, sweety, two euros for every copy makes a difference of 300.000€. It's letting go a lot of money for the sake of it. There's no Vogue in Europe as cheap as that. Vogue Italia in Italy costs 5€ (I think), Vogue España around 4€ (sometimes even more), Vogue Paris used to be 5€ and even when Vogue UK has a discount it's always more expensive than 3€.

Their marketing moves are very weird for a magazine that used to be so prestigious. Giving free purses, a 40% discount... Maybe they are trying to reach the Glamour/Cosmopolitan audience? But do those people appreciate a mag without sex tips? I don't know.

^so their circulation is of 150k? but imagine if they could increase that by lowering the cover price, they could charge more per ad page and get better margins. Usually the cover price covers the printing, the real profit comes from ads and their value is given by circulation.

You also have to know that a lot of people are going to buy the magazine with the 3 different covers and people that do not buy Vogue are going to buy it because of Vanessa and the 3 different covers. I think Vogue know what they are doing. You are going to have the usual buyers + the fans and their -must have- 3 covers. I am pretty sure they are not going to lose money with this issue.

The magazine is only at 2€95 for this issue. There's a sticker saying it's for the holidays.

Well, of course it is just for this issue, but it's even more weird considering it's December/January. Competitive pricing is a very bizarre strategy to adopt by such a stablished, luxury-focused magazine. But they must know why they do it.

BTW, it is very easy to see that no one cares about VP anymore. Just 8 pages and most of the content has been posted already (very MEH content). Plus, 90% of the comments were about the disccusion of Vanessa being and actress or a singer and the pricing of the issue.

^ but I think that happens in almost every thread, not because of people not caring for VP specifically but because a lot of active members got banned plus tFS has considerable less traffic than before.

^ is that one that has a gift in it though, or wrapped in plastic? don't they offer that version and then a cheaper one with just literally the issue on it's own?

I could not like Vanessa Paradis cover- issue. Its been a long while I did not buy Vogue Paris. They need to try Isabel Marant meets Vogue UK for me

Well... This issue still costs €4.90 in Paris...
It's weird beacause i checked the magazine and they don't mention a gift.
And journaux.fr only offers the issue with that price.

Does anyone have scans of Vanessa's feature articles?

The personal words, photos, inspirations, insights are normally the highlights of these Guest Edited issues after all!
