W Magazine August 2015 : Taraji P. Henson by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott

Without watching the show like everyone else, I know Taraji has worked hard to get to where she is now.

Her recent appearance on the front of fashion magazines has led me to start watching the show, and it's been a long time since a cover star has got me that interested in their work.

^ Seriously!!! They don't have an original bone in their body, but she saves this because she really was present, and it turned out stunning.

Holy crap they, once again duplicated someone else's work. Shameless!

Someone is gonna end up suing them and with the amount of copying they have in their catalogue it will be difficult for them to claim ignorance.

And these are the most in demand fashion photographers?? My God, we're doomed.

Thank god Taraji slayed this cover & editorial because it makes me somehow look pass the fact that Mert & Marcus, yet again, rehashed someone's work. My god, the styling and the overall feel was blatantly copied. 0 creativity at all! Because of this editorial, I started to like them again after their recent lackluster work everywhere.. but after seeing that... It's back to the negatives for me. How can they even be proud of themselves? Producing a remastered and rehashed version of someone's previous work is not something to be proud of. I wonder how, up until now, they avoided not to be sued.

Thank you, Trex for the wonderful find!

Personally, I'm failing to understand how Mert & Marcus/Edward Enninful 'copied' the Diana Ross shoot with Taraji. There's an evident inspiration there but I wouldn't declare it a direct copy. In M&M's defense, they constantly find themselves under scrutiny for emulating another photographer but M&M aren't the only offenders. Meisel often copies the work of Richard Avedon and he's hailed a genius! I understand everyone's gripes with the shoot but when the outcome is this fabulous and refreshing, I can't complain too much.

I see it as a clear homage to an original shoot, but not a case of plagiarism per say. And it's well done, unlike many homages we see, so I have zero problems with it.

All the sirens, where's Gigi?? And why does Doutzen look so weird? With Terry as fashion's pariah, M&M can now have a field day doing sexy edits. Bella's one shot is the best for me, the rest just look cheap. I understand that was the aesthetic and it's done perfectly, but it's not my taste.

^Bella's also my favorite. I love Doutzen's position but her eyebrows
And Joan, Rosie, Barbara, Chrissy... what are you guys doing?

They should hire Juergen Teller to do this.I think Anna Ewers's is the best one, then Joan's.Others,lol.

Is this Mert & Marcus' audition portfolio for Pirelli? It looks so cheap and so tacky. My goodness. These are like outtakes of a p*rn shoot.

Horrible editorial, i mean, awful casting models & M&M copied the Teller's style, really these men aren't creative photographers.

guys, are you serious? this is aesthetic of 50s-60s girly magazines. it supposed to look cheap and tacky.

Joan's is hands down the best to me. I love that pose so much! It's sultry enough and still stays classy. Anna is my second favorite. The rest, no.
