Really? I do remember reading something about he was giving flak to Sienna about her smoking habit. And something about that to Sadie too.

Odd.

Ah well...I just want to tell him not to ruin his lovely teeth (they're very straight. and quite white). lol.

Nicole Kidman on cover of US Bazaar November wearing Rochas, photographed by Thomas Schnek. The best thing about this issue is that it doesn't have a subscriber cover--I love Nicole, but I am reluctant to spend an additional $3.50 on this petty issue, with substantial pages devoted to "what your fragrance says about you" and "what fragrance you should wear." These type of personality tests are guilty pleasures in mass-market fashionzines a la Cosmo and Glamour, but readers have a different mentality when they read high fashion magazines--they want something bold but authentic. Bazaar is too wishy-washy and non-confident. The most exciting fashion news they shared this month is the Balenciaga coin bag.

Best edit: Diana Dondoe photographed by Greg Kadel. Kadel is a real talent and can fill the void left by Demarchelier's departure. His work for Numero and Vogue Nippon are nothing short of great. And the clothes are a little bland, but they look very good on Diana.

There is another edit which pair designers with their favorite models. Yes, Bazaar is running out of tricks, as they resort to this time and time again (they just did this in Sept!), but asking designers what to wear now is better than asking celebs. Interesting paring: Gemma Ward with Proenza Schouler, Jacquetta Wheeler with Oscar de la Renta, Rachel Weisz with Narciso Rodriguez, and Angela Lindvall with Donna Karan. Angela is also plugging her Collage t-shirt (p.50). It's cute, but at $75.00 a piece, I think I'll pass.

Angelina Jolie photographed by Mario Testino for Nov Allure. Testino should be credited for 'elevating' Allure. He shot a bare-back Jolie, comfortably showing off her huge tiger tatoos on her lower back while the alluring curves of her breasts can be seen vaguely in the shadow. These pics are better than Esquire and put Michael Thompson's celebrity pictorials to shame.

Testino also shoots Diana Dondoe in Allure's token denim editorial. I wish the whole editorial were in color--Diana looks stunning in the colored pages but a bit distant in the black-and-white pages. Overall, a great month for Diana. She just got the November cover of Italian Flair as well.

Caroline Winberg is in an eyeliner story.

Renee Zellweger is in the star style section.

Verdict: Not earth-shatteringly good by any means, but a stronger issue from Allure in its uber-lackluster year.

November US Vogue, Jennifer Connelly shot by Craig McDean.

eds:
High Art by Annie Leibovitz. Natalia in couture. You get Natalia to shoot in the best of the best, and this is it? Disappointing because it's typical Leibovitz, and Natalia is doing her typical thing. She is beautiful.

Look Homeward Angel by Craig McDean. Profile of Jennifer Connelly. I love her, so I'm biased, but she looks amazing.

Shameless Romantic by Craig McDean. Daria, a white backdrop and flowy skirt. Her hair is a bit off, and the shots are nothing exciting.

Shopping Chic & Cheap. Profiles of 3 shopping pros. Shot by Jonathan Becker.
Having it All: Amanda Cutter Brooks
The Player: Karolina Kurkova (looking great in the lip print YSL Renee Zellweger is wearing on the US Elle cover)
Bucking the Trends: Caroline Calvin, creative director for Levi's.

Blessed Estate by Annie Leibovitz. At home with Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld. Blah.

You're Hired by Arthur Elgort. Profiles of the 10 finalist for the CFDA Fashion Fund Award:
Dean Harris with Erin Wasson and Angela Lindvall
Behnaz Sarafpour: Jacquetta & Hana
Doo.Ri with Alek Wek
Peter Som
Edmundo Castillo
Libertine: Michelle Buswell and Guinevere
Habitual: Anouck, Cameron and Heather Marks
Proenza Schouler fitting Natasha Poly
Cloak
Derek Lam with Jessica Stam & Gemma
I believe the PS boys were the winners.

Girl of the Moment: Jemima Khan
Life with Andre: Spring 2005 Runway Report (3 pg)
interview with Kate Bosworth
Index is on the resort collections.

Verdict: 2 out of 5 stars. The CFDA piece is good if you're interested in newer designers. The Jennifer Connelly interview is good as well. Besides that, blah.

I like Diana Dondoe but in this edit her look is just too vacant. There is nothing in her eyes. And made the whole thing a bit boring for me.

Thanks for your always comprehensive reports.

it has been a long time since i've bought a magazine!but, the last ones were...(all from september)

-Vogue US (the HUGE number)
I just had to get it, because of the size if nothing else! I actually had this idea, since UK version is so crappy these days, I'll try buying US version, and I innocently thought it's better.I was so wrong! it had couple of nice things like the articles about Kate Moss,Gemma Ward and Chanel  ,but still, it's so commercial magazine.and there isn't any great editorials.it's like SJP, the woman with "fashionsense" I never understand.I'll never buy it again!

-Allure (Kirsten Dunst on the cover)
I bought it just because I couldn't buy anything else from this lousy shop near my school.I knew next couple of hours at school would be sooooo boring, so I bought Allure just that I could have something to do.actually it wasn't a mistake, and I could buy it again. usually I don't like US mags, but this one was somekind different.or maybe it was just Kirsten Dunst

here's what I think about some magazines...

-Vogue UK
Way overpriced! I used to buy it religiously, but now it's crap.last good one was the June number with Gisele B. on the cover.I think Vogue UK's snobby and so middle-aged these days.there's nothing to read and even the before so gorgeus editorials look so damn dull.it doesn't surprise you anymore.

-Vogue US
way too commercial.there's nothing I'd like to wear.there's one good thing:they have interesting interviews with designers.but never any good editorials,it's too American magazine to me.just don't like it.

-Vogue Paris
I just love it!   I think it's so invidual compared to its US and UK sisters.there's always the best models, clothes, accessories and people.I never get bored with it!it's funny because I'm even not so good in French, but it's still so charming.I'm way too crazy about everything French! :P the Bible for me right now.

-L'Officiel
it's quite, could we say "rich people's mag". It's not so good as Vogue Paris, but still one of my favs.that magazine ALWAYS surprises me!and there's so pretty editorials too!

-Numero
some of them are good, some of them aren't.it's quite amateur magazine. it's nice reading, but I don't like the editorials.and the covers are the most horrible I've seen.I don't read it so often I could say more.

-Harper's Bazaar
c'mon, this is one of the oldest fashion magazines still coming out, and it's so light and SMALL! there's nothing to read&watch. you can easily read it through in fifteen mins.and it's so celebrity concerned.there's always some stuff that interests me,but never that much I'd bought it.over-priced comparing the number of pages.

-Elle UK
I hated it couple of months ago, but now I'm planning to buy it, funny.it's not a fashion magazine, though.there's lots of stuff to read!

-Glamour UK
hmm...I loved it last year, don't know why. now I hate it, it's so commercial and H&M. yuk.tries so hard to be glamorous ( with Geri on the cover, how stupid they are... ).I'm so bored of its "nice handbag-size".

blaah...I'm so bored right now, and if anyone of you could read this through, i'm sure you are too!

I thought it was Lydia Hearst for the Vuitton jewelry ads.

Also, is that Natalia's fourth Vogue Nippon cover in a row? They must love her.

November's V is rumored to be Franz Ferdinand.

Lydia Hearst Shaw is in the Vuitton jewelry ad in the November Vanity Fair (with Johnny Depp) with Natasha Poly and one other girl.

Yeah, that was September. November should be Franz.

Thanks for the Nippon Vogue cover, kimair! :woot: This would mark Natalia's second consecutive cover in 2004. And her couture ed in the current US Vogue looks good! I am not normally impressed by US Vogue's attempt at being 'artsy', but this is quite innovative. Can't wait for a closer look when my subscribed copy arrives.

The Arthur Elgort editorial is on Style.com. This is shaping up to be a very good issue--a rarity in November.

This marks the return of one of my faves (Jacquetta Wheeler) and Anouck Lepere and the 'induction' of Natasha Poly and Lisa Cant.

Franz is the artist in Marc Jacobs' current campaign, right? The upcoming V should be interesting because of the Model UN editorial:

Each agency gets to assemble their top girls for the group shoot. Oh well, I wish the girls could've dressed in a more eclectic way.

Funny this was the first post I saw. I bought this to kill time on the subway (it was between this for $5 and AH+ for $15  ). I wish you could get refunds on magazines. I liked one editorial though, with tons of knits (yes, softie, KNITS! ). Although I did not buy it for the Beckham article at all, I liked the photos. I like portraits and these were decent. There was also a small article on CDG and the pieces photographed were really nice.
