What to Wear to a Wedding (Your Own & As a Guest)

^wow they are amazing!

I am not fixed on a floor length dress 100%.

But the thing is, I don´t want a dress that looks too much like a wedding dress. but on the other hand, I also don´t want a dress that looks like I´m hanging around going shopping or skating.

for example this dress:

it looks lovely on the photo, but in real life it looked like I was about to go skating. Just missed my skateboard!
If that was a bit longer or the fabric softer it prop wiuld have worked.

I asked you this before but why not consider custom made? Since you want more of a cocktail gown/dress than a real wedding dress, I don't think it will be too expensive and the fit will be perfect..

Yes, I think that's going to be your issue, given your criteria...

I think it's going to come down to material and shape. and i suppose detail of some sort. The dress you posted is lovely but yes, it looks a bit like you could go skating or even just to the mall with your friends. :innocent:

I think if you want something shorter, or extremely simple, you need some part of it to look expensive - most probably the fabric. it doesn't necessarily need to be really expensive, obviously, but you want the texture or detail to lift it from 'summery white dress' to 'my wedding dress'...

All the best! :flower:

I like this ... I wonder if you could change the look of this or another simple dress with a lace or other really beautiful shawl? Or mantilla?

Have you looked at pix of what others have worn for beach weddings for inspiration? I think Cindy Crawford got married at the beach in a short white dress ... (I can't believe I'm suggesting you look to celebrities for inspiration, but hey, desperate times ... :P)

myown, I think you are looking for pretty much what I was looking for in my wedding dress...
I did not want a very bridal or long dress, because I was getting married in the registry office and it was a very small wedding. I also liked the idea of being able to wear the dress for other occasions as well...
I searched high and low and finally found this and just knew that was it:

I think there are quite a few similar dresses available in white...
Since you are so slim it would be a great idea to emphasize your waist and perhaps have a fuller skirt... But go with what you feel comfortable and amazing in!
Also, I totally agree with everyone's advice here :flower:
Good luck!

^You posted that before (in another thread I think) and I totally loved that! And I still love it! Fantastic dress and you look stunning wearing it!
Did you ever wore it again?
What occasions? And do you think"I´m actually wearing my wedding dress now" all the time?

because I have absolute no experience with that and I don´t know a good tailor shop (?)

thanks everyone for replying!!!

in the US if you went to a tailor shop and requested something from scratch it would cost you a fortune.

i think you should check ebay for brands like tasashi (its a brand that is frequently sold at nordstrom etc) lots of lacy dresses that retail for hundreds and are sold for a song even nwt.

are you afraid the wind is going to blow your dress up at the beach? if so, then i think its wiser to go with a longer dress.

^wow good, you mention it! I havent thought about the wind yet!

I haven't worn it yet because I got pregnant straight after my wedding, lol. It will have to wait until next year... My plan is to wear it to some fancy restaurant and accessorize differently so it feels less like a wedding dress

Not sure if I'll ever get married. I love a boho feel on bridal dresses.
I would love for sure to try these ones out:

i like the flutter sleeves! what are you going to accessorize with it?

my boyfriend :P

Not sure yet. I always wanted some kind of head-piece with flowers but i´m not sure if it´ll look right.
But he is going to wear purple pants so we have a lot of colors.

we are going to marry at the beach so maybe we are going barefoot. I would totally love that.

i think a lot of brides put a piece of cardboard underneath the sand where they are planning on standing..that way they don't have to go barefoot.

Looks great on you and it looks very flowy, I like it a lot. And flowers in your hair on the beach would look very nice I think. Please post the pic of the actual day!

I agree, this one looks great! The colour is really good on your skintone as well. Congrats :flower:

myown, I think that a flower headpiece could look really pretty with this dress because it looks very fluttery and flowy. Though, if you do so, maybe a delicate flower crown work work very well with it? That way it doesn't overpower the whole look. Or you could wear your hair in a chingnon and have flowers tucked into your hair somehow. But I must say, great choice of dress style and color! Whatever you wear will look stunning.

thank you all. I will see if I find some delicate flower headpiece. or a flower headpiece at all lol.
