What to Wear to a Wedding (Your Own & As a Guest)

^ Probably you have to have the right ear for that ;) If you can find or create a design you like, your florist should be able to make what you want.

^thank you so much!
all of your assent/approval means a lot to me.

Maybe these websites gives you some ideas about headpieces, I like them a lot:smile::

Also a few or one lily above one ear would also look very nice.

I love etsy. there is also a similar site, it´s called "dawanda" (i think it´s theres an english-site, too) that has also a lot of great headpieces.
i will definitely look there.

Congratulations myown ! Your dress is gorgeous :)

I have a jewellery question: I am looking for pendant sapphire (and diamonds) earrings and google is not helping at all :/ I want something very nice (grade 6/6) in a deep blue colour to go with my engagement ring + wedding band..
Any ideas? :/

Another question: so I am having 2 weddings and I was wondering if you thought it might look weird to re-use items (such as shoes) I wore for my first wedding? (no guests at the first one but pictures will be sent to our closest friends/family)

Thank you :)
/sorry if this is OT

^ I can't help you with the jewellery, but I doubt most people would notice the shoes - unless they are quite a noticeable piece -, and I think those that do notice will not judge that at all.

The jewellery is a hard one. Is it possible that the jeweller who sold you the ring/band, also sells a matching pendant/earrings? Or could he design something similar? And how exactly do the pendant/earrings have to look like? A sapphire in the middle surrounded by diamonds?

It's totally not weird to re-use items, especially not if they're great. If I have a great pair of heels I would like to show them off and thus rewear them with no problems at all. Also with less noticeable pieces I would rewear them if they make my outfit look great.

Jewellery: Sadly, the wedding band is from Tiffany (not sold anymore, thanks god I bought it as soon I saw it) and the engagement ring is a long story as my fiance designed it but found the diamonds and the sapphire elsewhere. I checked the website of the designer but didn't find anything...I might try to ask him tho. Thank you Nymphea, it is a good idea :flower: I didn't really want to start another project though especially since I can't find my bridesmaid dresses :( I have a very precise idea of what I want and I can't find it off the rack. Which is really really annoying...

Those are the earrings I really like. Albeit, if I had to design it, I would like to flower on the upper part of the earring and then have the round sapphires throughout the whole length. But then I am thinking that maybe if I see so many similar styles (sapphire on top and bottom and then diamonds in the middle), it might be because it looks better that way

Re-using items for a wedding: You are too nice ladies. I really hope it will be alright.. For the first wedding the colour scheme is white & yellow/gold accessories and for the second one it is white/blue/red. White & red for the decor and for me (some flowers in the bouquet) but blue & red for my brides (red shoes). I was wondering if it might be okay to go for the same golden shoes than for the first wedding or if I should stick to either red or blue shoes (?)

Bridesmaid: I might have more luck here. I am looking for dresses in this colour (cobalt blue/deep navy blue) (pinterest, zimbio)

but with this back (Duduta.com)

this front (and sheer/tulle sleeves): sweetheart neckline deep a bit more v-neck and not padded (credit: Rainingblossom, outfootinfo)

Fitted at the bodice/top and then flowy/airy from the hips :)

Have you seen a dress like that somewhere?

You've got great taste EvaH! But it's gonna be difficult I think. Concerning the jewellery, I think the best option would be to design something yourself so the result is 100% what you want. The big brands carry their own signature collections, not much sapphire and looking through the lesser known brands is going to take ages unfortunately and succes is not guaranteed.

Great dress, but to find all the details in one dress is a very lucky find I think, maybe let a tailor do his job.....difficult! So far I haven't seen anything coming close to what you want unfortunately.

And the shoes, it also depends on the design of your shoes which one to choose, not only the color I think. Choose the one you like best with your outfit and you feel comfortable in.:flower:

I agree with getting a tailor to do the bridesmaids dresses - that way you can also assure that they get their best fit.

Thank you ladies. I think I found the bridesmaids dresses and I will just drop the open back idea and leave the dress as it should be. I am really glad I found it especially since it is from a London-based designer and I also fell in love with 3 of her wedding dresses. Thanks Elle UK magazine! I think she will be the one working with us.
Pictures of the bridesmaids' dresses - she will have change the colour and probably fabric. I also think I want her to tone down the crystals/embellishment.. It would be weird otherwise.

I don't like the addition of the lace but I love love the bodice.

This is my favorite, I love everything.. but my mum is very fond of to the bodice of the first one which I like and the neckline of the last line (which I find too busy)

I really like the neckline but I somehow think it is too busy and wouldn't go with the earrings I want..

Which one would you vote for? I think I will make an appointment as soon as I am back and better to try the 3 of them on. On her website she says the bride can have to make up to 6 fittings and she prefers to have 1 year to do the whole thing so, I am a bit scared !

Great choices! I would definitively tone down or remove the embellisment on the bridesmaid dresses, because now it looks more like a gypsy dress.

I like the second one! It's the most delicate one, it looks regal and the back is gorgeous. But the lace is split in the front, I would like that the dress is totally covered with lace.
The shoulders of the first/third one don't look right, it's too much for the overall look. Without the shoulders the first one is rather bland.
I'm curious how the dresses look in real life, there is always a difference between pics and real life. Enjoy trying them one and choosing the right one!

Appointment on the 17th of September, I am so excited !! :woot:

Jina, indeed he is. Next time we will all go out for dinner :)

That would be great. ^_^ Can't wait to meet you in person too.

I would vote for the second one, especially the back is really beautiful, but somehow I have a feeling that another dress will tickle your fancy.
Keep us reported. ;)

Will do :flower:! My appointment was actually moved to the 16th as the designer/owner wanted to meet me directly to quicken the process, but they are making me feel a bit anxious with how stressed they are :ninja: I think I don't understand how long of a process creating 6 dresses is..
Edit: my colour scheme also evolved as I found the most perfect shoes in Raspberry

How did your appointment go?

How did your appointment go?

Sadly I am still not back to the UK thus had to reschedule my appointment to the 14th of October. I will keep you all posted :flower:
I have an even more clearer picture of what I want and would love to mix the silhouette of that design above with the detail, draping and fabric of a Reem Accra dress I stumbled upon while looking for a wedding planner

I just came back from the appointment. I was there from roughly 3.30pm to 6.30pm I think we tried 15 dresses or so. It was an interesting process because before entering the shop I knew exactly what I wanted but after trying the option on it didn't feel right at all. That's when the fun begun: we tried every style under the moon from very very simple dress/clean lines to big princess/prom dresses.

I don't have any pictures of the 2 two dresses I picked in the end - they are from the new collection. However, I will ask her to email me the pictures she took of me trying them so you can see! In the end I also decided to get a veil it just felt right. I can't wait for the wedding !!

This is so exciting :woot: I couldn't recommend Phillipa Lepley more. She is a star and all the members of her team are lovely

Wonderful! Sounds you've had a lot of fun and found some perfect dresses. Very curious how they look like!!! A great expercience, happy for you.
