What to wear to prom or homecoming

^yeah, i'm going to try to win the dress now that you've talked me into it... i'm in love with it

Tinetush those dresses that you posted are perfect! I too am not a fan of the typical prom style.

Thank you. :flower:

cutx, Lanvin :woot: I have a feeling you should go for it, even though I haven't seen it. :p
You have to post a pic if you get it. !

Help with Prom.

I live in Hawaii and my prom is in 2 weeks. I have had my dress for a while and recently realized that i need shoes. This is a picture of it:

I was thinking about getting shoes dyed to match the purple in the middle. Is this a good idea, and what kind of shoes should i buy. Also, what kind of jewelry would look good with it?

Thanks!

I didn't want a typical dress, either, so I was pretty happy to find this Anne Klein one at Bloomingdale's. I haven't bought shoes for it yet, but I love the fit, and the fact that I'll be able to wear it more than once in my life. The easter egg look just isn't so hot with me.

And Lanvin! Hey, I'd go with it. But that's just me. ;)

I say get a nice stiletto, but go for a blue or a green. As far as accessories go, I saw a pair of earrings at Claire's today that was fairly simple-three circles, one on top of the other, with a blue rhinestone in each. If you do that, go for a nice crystal necklace with a drop. Or if you want to do bigger (chandelier) earrings, go for a more subdued necklace.

Your dress is stunning!! Have fun!!! I'll go with Trista about the stilettos.

I'll also try a plunging necklace that really color-contrasts the dress and put on a simple, crystal ring etc.

Have a blast!

I hate typical prom dresses, as well! I bought mine last weekend. It's a bit above knee length on me (I'm 5' 11"... :/), dark blue, by Vera Wang, and I am going to wear it with opaque black tights, black pumps (which I'll take off when I get there), and natural makeup aka undereye concealer and mascara.

Okay I have DILEMMA!!!

My Jovani dress is too small in the back by about 2 inches on the zipper. I know it's easier to fix a dress that is too big but how about if it's too small by that little margin? I am in such a fiasco.

fauxxaffliction, I was just looking for dresses myself and came across this on Bluefly. I don't know if you want short or long. This one is only available in size 6.

this is probably a really dumb question but is a print DvF wrap dress too "casual" for a junior going to prom with friends? I'm trying to find something away from the usual Jessica McClintock stuff that people wear at my school.

I think it'd be way too informal for a prom. A DVF print wrap dress is essentially a day dress- not an evening dress

hmm... didn't DVF used to wear her wrap dresses at studio 54? i think if you found a great print you could do something with your hair and accessories to make it real knock-out evening look. i just think you would have to REALLY look into having very special shoes, clutch, jewelry, etc...

marylauda i'm digging the ABS but i personally wish it were full length. then you could really have fun with your entire look and do some halston/70's channeling.

if only i were a girl and looking foward to prom... i would wear a one-shoulder chiffon floor length empire waist gown with a satin turban and do some crazy egytian eyes, gold python clutch :(

ruthie, your dress is gorgeous! i'm glad to know i'm not the only going going for a simpler look. some of the dresses i've heard my friends and classmates talk about seem too puffy and elaborate for my likings.

fauxxaffliction, try nordstrom's junior department. i actually tried on a silver dress that is like what you want but it was too long on me and silver's just not quite my color.
