Yohji Yamamoto

^I wanted to karma you again but I can't...all these looks are truly brilliant!
Thanks so much for sharing.... :flower:

so...alexander wang opened in yohji's old retail space in soho...
there is a MINK HAMMOCK in the middle of the store...
:ninja:......:hardhead:...

and yohji deliveries seem to be late this season...
IF has hardly anything- just a few bits of Y's...
and barney's doesn't have it yet either...

so this makes the giant yohji space full of alex wang all the more annoying...
cause i can't find any yohji to make me feel better...
:(...

ugh I didn't realize a.wang was occupying the space now... that is absolutely tragic... true injustice

A - you look amazing as always..

has anyone else gotten a copy of My Dear Bomb yet? I received it yesterday, I'm so excited :crush:

I ordered a copy a few days ago and can't wait for it to arrive! Have you started reading it yet?

All the pockets flaps are lined with tartan, crimson tartan in this case. The colour peaks eventually so it's like a little surprise.

Funny you mentioned Chaplin lol, that silhouette has been always a great inspiration for me.

ok- i see...the pocket flaps sound very good...

i tried on a LONG skirt yesterday at barney's...
it is like no other skirt i have ever tried on...

there is an extra asymmetrical panel of fabric going down one hip in front...
if you move the panel, SURPRISE!...there is a hidden pocket...!
and there is also a nice slit on one side...not too much, but just high enough...
then it's snug around the backside and flairs a bit at the bottom in the back...like a mermaid...

it's amazing...
sort of slouchy casual and super sexy all at the same time...
the pocket placement makes the skirt feel like you are wearing trousers...

and the fabric!!!...
don't get me started...
>...

 yohji....

and they didn't have my size...
:(...

*story of my life!
*sigh*

^ Softgrey, how funny! I saw that skirt at Barney's a couple of days ago as well... it was one of the most beautiful skirts I'd ever seen!

I keep thinking about it so I may have to go back for it... what size did you need? My store had a size 1 out, they may have had more in the stockroom...

ok- i went back...
skirt is GONE!>...

but they got other stuff in now...
i wound up getting a knit draped sort of tank top...
it looks similar to one of the dresses, but i don't know if it is actually from the runway or if it was added later...

it's really nice...the way it is draped is quite genius...
there is no other word for it...

there was another piece that i really fell in love with...
but it was a bit dramatic and i just thought i would wear the knit top more often...

the whole collection looks quite different in person, i must say...
can't wait to go to london and see the yohji store where i can see all of the collection properly displayed together...
*sigh*

^yohji is always 10 times better on the racks, just the opposite to many designers.

YY european stores are now on facebook, check them out. They are uploading many pictures of the seasonal stuff. The haute couture collection inspired in YSL is being re-edited this season for the anniversary. Some of those pieces can be bought at the flagships.

I more or less recently got a fantastic pair of cotton duck fabric pants with riri zippers from the "madness" collection. aw04 I think.

here you are a fit pic.

I wish more people would show some yohji worn, I think he's constantly mistaken as a difficult designer to pull off, being either too radical or challenging height wise. In my opinion he's the most accessible and democratic of the designers. With the exception of the price point of course.
:(

softie - what a bummer about the skirt... hate when that happens.
btw when are you planning to visit the V&A exhibit (if you still are)?

while I'm in here... a detail photo I took of one of wire.artists' YY blazers. the stitching and textures, so beautiful..
(my own photo)
