no i dont feel like i can/want to control anyone's life but I guess we (humans) just feel that our own selfish needs have to be fulfilled i wonder if you had to kill and skin the animal YOURSELF if you would still wear it? hmmmm...... ignorance is NOT bliss and as far as controlling your life, I wonder if we could ask the animals that are killed for their fur what their choice would be CERTAINLY NOT to be in your wardrobe, I guess they dont get to have choices.....

Sisi, comments like yours don't really put me off fur. It just makes me feel annoyed, that some people feel like they can control my life and my wardrobe. I'll continue wearing fur until I no longer can afford it.

I dont wear fur NEVER HAVE NEVER WILL! I also dont eat meat and I am trying to make the transition to becoming vegan, I do get your point about people who wont wear fur from "cute, cuddly" animals but feel a cow, fish, rat, is no different very ignorant, goog point.

You should also be telling this to meat eaters, leather shoe wearers, lumber contractors, farmers, the government, zoo keepers, circus folk, the SPCA, almost every darn corporation in the world.

I have a feeling that people who have problems with fur because they come from cute little animals, but they'll eat chicken and beef because those animals are not so cute.

With that reasoning maybe we chould be able to kill ugly people too, no?

Who are we to decide who or what lives an dwho or what dies ? Seems to me that there are enough people with god like complexes arleady out there and perhaps a little compassion , caring and respect for life and the living would go a VERY LONG way to change this world to a MUCH better , peacefull place to live .

I just think that there are too many people imposing their anti-fur opinions onto others but not doing anything about it. There are so many celebrities who take a stand against fur but still wearing it. Madonna for instance was sent a bag which she was happy to wear until she found out that it was made from a cow's aborted fetus.

god put animals on the world for the humans to eat,and get clothes from. When adam and eve was naked god cloth them with animal skin so in my opinion there is nothing wrong with fur.

In my opinion, it's perfectly acceptable to wear fur from fox, mink etc. But I am against making coats out of cats and dogs, I love my cats and dogs too much for that!

I try not to think where my fur is from, but I hate it when someone says ''fur is dead'' and so on. It's so annoying. It's my right to wear if i want to.

well you have a point BUT I will say this Stella McCartney is definitely wealthy she can afford WHATEVER she chooses, and yet she chooses NOT to use any animal products in her line, so I dont believe people do it out of jealousy of the wealthy/elite, its an ethical,humane, compassionate choice

My feeling is...

1) we kill animals and eat them

most people dont seem to have a problem with this.

2) no one needs to eat meat, there are other options.

therefore:

3)most people find it acceptable (myself included) to kill animals though it is not actually nescessary

with this oulook, the idea that: killing animals to make luxury clothing is worse than killing animals to make hamburgers, just does not make sense. It is not a nescesity either way.

It seems less of a love for animals, then a deep subconsious dislike of the elite, or of the wealthy.

Those who do not wear animal products OR eat meat, i respect you because your logic makes sense.

However i disagree with you still, because I don't think animals have human emotions, reasoning, or self awareness, therefore i don't think they deserve equal rights as people.

this entire discussion is a waste of time. people have the legal right to buy and wear fur whether they choose to or not. we live in a world were human beings are in control, therefore, people are not going to be skinned alive or be put in the same situation, So stop wasting your energy typing aggressive and passionate responses and actuallu use your energy to be active and do something about the cause, if you truly believe in it. Hypocrisy is the true crime being made against those animals.

words are powerful and CAN change people,just because humans can do anything doesnt not mean they should, it doesnt make it morally right just because you "can", I DO use my energy to do something about it. I am a vegetarian, dont wear any animal derived materials, and talk to people about the matter, and I also do everything in my power to care for the environment, it IS a part of my life and I believe everyone should also do the same as we ALL live here on Earth, so I dont believe I live in hypocrisy at all I do all I can to make the world a little better

I completely agree with you but how did you find the way to stay away from ALL animal derived products, I've seen vegan shoes and what I have seen is NOT pretty! but if I could find some that were I would definitely give it ALL up I am a vegetarian and not vegan because I havent found a vegan cheese(I cheese) that tasted as good as regular cheese, but if anyone has any suggestions would be VERY happy and appreciative

Sheep are bred to produce as much wool as possible. Larger skin area means a bigger area where wool will grow. Think about those Chinese wrinkly dogs... The sheep get fungus infections, sores and whatnot because of their unnatural mutations. Also, some sheep die after shaving. By shock, or cold. This procedure is not gentle.

When you produce silk, you kill the silk worm before it's fully mature. If you let it turn into a butterfly and break out of the cocoon, you end up with scrap silk instead of the long fibers that are wanted.

Down production is not very friendly to the birds. They are plucked while alive and conscious and thrown back into the birdhouse. When they have grown enough new down, the procedure is repeated. Typically, a bird will give 3 sets of down (if it doesn't happen to die before that...) and then it is scrapped.

The production of silk, wool, down, leather and fur is not kind to animals, it's a fact. Some of us can live with that, others can't.

everyone tries to sound so sophisticated, smart, intellectual, etc in this thread. The whole issue speaks for itself! Take a look at a dead animal, one you killed to wear. Need anything else be said?
