Yves Saint Laurent F/W 08.09 Paris

I HATE those wide thigh pants. And that square jacket on Natasha, I appreciate the idea...but my god that has to be the most unflattering silhouette I've ever seen. Paired with those pants, it looks like a black blob, or something equally unflattering.

The rest of the pants, the cropped, tapered, pleated ones, are getting old. I know they're a YSL classic, but can we see something new?

Nice

the dresses are amazing , he has adapted YSL's 40s style dresses but with a futuristic approach , but the pants are ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww , which is ironic he cuts the best pair of mens pants he needs to do the same for the women , like the pant he wears at the end are nice , drumstick pants are not really attractive on women.

Not my favorite YSL...There are tons of pieces I like in this collection...but I'm not floored or as captivated by it as his earlier YSL shows.

Am not so sure now!! I would like to hear the inspiration behind this collection. I am kinda bias to be honest. If this was some unknow designer I would probably hate it. I do like the coat on post #101 with the puff pocket [pic 4].

I really like the aggro-chic that he and Nicolas are doing.
I would have like to have seen more contemporary pants, the fit is just not right (perhaps for such hardy fabrics?). Some of the tailoring is also off but it's a step in the right direction, albeit through VERY 80's eyes...

i have to agree spike...
his pants silhouette is so unflattering...
the high waist with the baggy crotch and weird flood length...:ninja:

everything else on the other hand is exquisite...
the charcoal pieces with the cobalt on the inside...:woot:
and the teal wrap dress with the tiered skirt...

i can't wait to see the detail shots...

hate this. another **** chic (minus the chic) season. there's only one look i like--the sheer chiffon blouse with pencil skirt, but the model is gross, i don't need to see her 12-yo. antbites.

The hair and makeup is very distracting but the collection is very very nice

Those pieces with the layered ruffles do nothing for me. I'm really torn because while I understand what Pilati was going for but I don't think it really works in all instances.

Some pieces work very well (the leather jacket in post 98 and the graphic dress on Chanel are lust-worthy) but there are some really grotesque looks also.

S/S immediately clicked with me, and Pre-Fall was a dream, so I really don't understand why this? I don't think he has to be weird to be great.

It's okay...I don't like the colour palette...last season was better!

Very architectural. I agree that the crotch is huge and baggy but maybe it was a contrast between sharp and rigid with curvy and flowy?...

Love it.

i love so much of it. it is like balenciaga and marc jacobs smushed togeather---taking out all the mj crap.

Amen to this

The hair and styling does not work with the lighting at all. Maybe if the light was darker, but it just looks garish here.
