I like the detailing on these shoes and this skirt, its the most feminine thing Pilati has attempted in the last few seasons.

Some of the looks are gorgeous but nothing revolutionary, in my opinion, a step back for Stefano and Yves Saint Laurent. Love those floppy hats. The satin dresses are awful, as are the shoes which is a shame because usually YSL shoes are highlights. I'm unsure whether this convent vibe will translate to everyday wearability.

It all looks so old, I only like the green glasses; nothing has come near the sheer perfection of FW08  from Stefano, at least for me.

But I guess they can keep selling shoes and bags

i started out okay but got really bad towards the end.. soo outdated. havent liked a ysl collection in awhile :(

Well at least its not all butch like the past few seasons, but its still so.....empty. Yves Saint Laurent lost its energy a long time ago.

Mohawks on shoes? I'll pass

The entire collection otherwise? I say it's one of his most decent and safer collections But agreeing with cesarcmma This doesn't come close to his F/W 08/09 collection.

The only thing that bothered me other than the shoes were the satin dresses in the end, they seemed cheap and looked like some College Fashion Design student attempted to make them...

Come Stefano, we know you can do better than this!

This is such a weird collection. I am not a fan at all. I am really confused by it... those chains? The horrible jewel tone satin pieces? WHAT? Am I the only one who is completely baffled?

He's managed to make sheer blouses, above the knee skirts/dresses with 6 inch heels look austere and completely not sexy at all. How can you make chiffon ruffles look harsh?

I may have to come back to this later but right now I'm somewhat appalled by what he's doing with YSL.

I totally agree about the lack of femininity.
And even though I like most of the tailored black looks, nothing feels new. I just don't understand why he's stifling his talent, when he's done so much better.

I was hoping for something else and I got well ...something else than the something else I was hoping for. If that even makes sense...

I love the skirt detailing though and the second look in post #1.

its quite boring for pilati. its wearable and pretty, but thats about it

This is another disappointment - at least he bothered to work some interesting cuts and shapes in his previous collections, even the strawberry one, but this is completely flat. With so many other great choices from other designers, he has to up his game asap.

While it started out really well with the black pants and white shirts , but when that nun theme came , along with those horrid 80s satin dresses, it went down hill from there. He is too fixated with his own aesthetic , actually this is his best collection IMO , but for his standards. He is no Tom Ford for YSL thats for damn sure. Ford may have only made 6 collections for YSL , the shocking thing is they still look relevant today even.

Wasn't there a news story about the Pope telling nuns to dress better, recently?

Coincidence? :D
