any chance tilda swinton, cate blanchett, julianne moore might attend? or cameron diaz (she sometimes wore interesting gowns)...or uma thurman comes to my mind with her 2003 milk-maid dress ;)

kidding aside: looking forward to seeing tonight's fashion choices ... which style, trend, colors, cuts will be big? hoping for some colors and not only strapless gowns PLEASE

The most vexing problem with the Oscar telecast for several years is that the viewership is getting older and older and for that reason getting Kristen Stewart and Zoe Saldana to appear is more important than getting Judi Dench to appear in a year that she has not been nominated.

Dude, who the heck does Jessica Alba have dirt on? She goes to the Oscars every year despite never having come close to gaining one in her entire career and nowhere near the star power of a Sharon Stone or even a Demi Moore to make up for it. Just baffles me.

I don't mind Zoe Saldana because she's got potential (although I wish the worst on this Nina Simone project :ninja: sorry) and she's the star of two very, very, VERY huge franchises.

^ I agree. Zoe Saldana has more right to be at the Oscars than K-stew based on her track record.

Like with any industry awards it's not just about showing up when you're nominated. It's about supporting your industry and recognizing your colleagues. Prior nominees should feel some feel some sort of obligation to show up and the foreign actors like Fassy should too if they anticipate accepting roles in Hollywood features. But who knows if these people were even invited?

It´s not KStew´s fault she´s the most famous person to attend the ceremony this year.

I hope Riva wins, but if Weinstein could get Gwyneth up there Lawrence is a no brainer. It´s imposible not to love her.

Fashion wise I hope I´m wrong but I think it´s going to be another Zzzzzzzzzz night. Fingers crossed for Zoe Saldana, Kirsten Stewart, Charlize Theron and Nicole Kidman. I guess the rest will play from safe to supersafe to plain boring.

Jessica Alba was nominated for a Golden Globe once, about 10 years ago, for a TV show called 'Dark Angel', which was produced by James Cameron and the way I understand it, they remained good friends. So I guess there's that.
But she usually looks really good and classy on the red carpet so what the hell, just invite her anyway :D

I agree...no matter who shows up...I just want to see as many great fashion-wows as possible...though I am the first to get tired of overexposed stars I would make a have-to-attend list including people like Gwyneth Paltrow, Cameron Diaz ...

To some of us heathens, Jessica Alba is the most beautiful woman in Hollywood! That's enough for me. If Hollywood is not to celebrate the superficially perfect, then what is it there to celebrate?

My prediction is that sadly enough, Kerry will be the one in Marchesa.

So, that George something from E just said that Anne Hathaway is confirmed to wear a Valentino gown...

I'll cry if Kerry Washington wears Marchesa. Her style has improved lately, that'd be taking one loooong step back.

Not surprised about Anne being in Valentino. She has a good friendship with the man himself. Hopefully it's custom made.

Apparently Sally Field and Jennifer Aniston are also wearing Valentino.

Marchesa wouldn't factor in if it weren't for the Weinstein connection.

I´m almost sure Anne will wear the strapples red Valentino ballgown from the last couture show.
