Alessandro Michele - Designer, Creative Director of Valentino

The comments are still mourning over PP. The most delusional ones are those calling him the OG Valentino (as they bring up that horrific pink collection).

Nothing worse than a fashion designer claiming to be the next messiah and pushing a thrift store aesthetic showing up at events carrying a 3500 women bag while paired with Vans shoes.YUCK
I hate those designers dressing like clowns and then acting all intellectuals in interviews and on the runway.
being an intellectual does not mean you can't indulge in granny clothes :-) , they can't be all like JW.Anderson either :-)

All jokes aside i feel Alessandro is more a philosopher type than intelectual, its more about feeling on his life and his relationship to clothes than concept of questions of what clothes should be in 2025.

How did the philosophers distinguish themselves from other intellectuals?

Overall, the first philosophers distinguished themselves through their dedication to reason, observation, and intellectual curiosity, paving the way for a new intellectual tradition focused on inquiry, speculation, and critical thinking.

Albert Einstein (theoretical physicist) slightly off topic :-) would be thrift store aesthetic these days if you would judge his dress choices, i doubt he would be into prada or the row even if his furry shoes he did it before Phoebe :-)

i think the whole nerd group are more factual into Alessandro's `s thrift store aesthetic world category than we would love to believe minimalist and modern aesthetic to fit with intellectual modern aesthetic.

^ ChatGPT says you're being too nice...

I just think Allessandro is very influenced by his Grandma, not making a joke. I think he may find security in dressing this way....

Hes dressed like honestly someone from the Lower East Side, Manhattan. I couldn't really tell you the difference.... A bunch of random thrift store clothes with Vans and a designer purse...

What does wearing specific clothing and having particular taste have to do with being an intellectual and one's critical capabilities?

That is so true. Whenever I see a woman still wearing her old Celine turtle-neck jumper, the row bag with a pair of white sneakers and no socks, I don't see an intellectual woman; I see one basic b*tch with no original thought

Michele is always being like himself, but Venturini is actually very stylish here.

I’m genuinely interested to see if this Valentino will resonate with shoppers or will he have to pivot from this direction. It’s just cute but I don’t feel any emotion for this.

It seems like a lot of money being poured into this project, they will want their return on investment. He will need to be flexible if this does not generate sales

I actually love them. They are doing what I wish a lot of online commentators should do: going to stores to look at the stuff.

And furthermore, it’s not like “intellectuals” dress the same anyway, what a bizarre notion.
Intellectuals, like artists dress terribly anyway. The fantasy fashion people put in their field elevated the perception people have of their style but they have a lot of time terrible style.

But thank god, style doesn’t define the value of an individual. I know some terrible person with good style that are absolutely boring and stupid!

I take Alessandro over JWA anyway. I like when people who makes clothes enjoy wearing clothes, regardless of their style. For example I loved Alber Elbaz’s uniform.

So basically according to them everything is cool or cute…haaaha annoying both of them…in the end do they bought something or is it was just to make “content”?

I know that SA was mad as hell with those two touching everything and not buying. They didn't even plug the SA. I would have been like if you dont GTFO...
Plugged for what? They didn’t do anything lol

I doubt they bought anything, I think they are more second hand, vintage or probably buy things marked down - purely my assumption though.

They are essentially making content and I have seen the longer video and there are some things they don’t like and they share their opinion.
They are industry people. So they aren’t going to spend 10K on a Valentino piece anyway…
But they are showcasing pieces that caught their attention.

I think their context is totally relevant because ultimately it’s about the pieces themselves. On a show, a silly idea like the double heels by Jacquemus may look fun but silly. But on the shelves of a DS, it can look surprising, daring, fun but also still silly because unpractical…So it means, straight to the outlet.

L.A. is the home of the homeless, and the common sartorial aesthetic of the unsheltered is to pile on every item of clothing one has all at once, no matter if they match, no matter what the season. That's the look Signore Michele seems to be adopting in his ensemble – just throwing anything and everything within reach on his back with no concern as to how it looks. In his own horrible way, he's making Mugatu's "Derelicte" a reality.
