Alessandro Michele - Designer, Creative Director of Valentino

I got my first look at Alex's Traveling Ragbin Circus in person at South Coast Plaza on Black Friday. With all the velvet and fringe and '70s nostalgia, I kept flashing back to Carol Burnett wearing the curtains.

Everything was bejeweled and gilt to high heaven and appeared to be made from old upholstery remnants. Looking at a men's green velveteen suit with a Nehru jacket, my friend dubbed it "Emerald City clothes." "I hate these Emerald City clothes. Who would wear this?" I could only muster my standard reply: "People with more money than taste."

Uff, that should construction is something else... Also: Why not get this exact same dress vintage? It's not like this is some kind of updated version an old design, it is literally a wore made reproduction.

Carol Burnett wearing the curtains is more Viktor & Rolf before Viktor & Rolf...a visionary!!

Sales start in one week and I'm dying to know what collection they're gonna put on discount: last PPP Le Noir (wiped out from the website after Michele's debut hit the stores), Michele Cruise 2025 or both.
Even if Kering acquired 30% of the stakes (Kering does not do official sales) and Michele's offerings feel and look more "elevated" I think they are going have official sales like other Mayhoola brands (Balmain).
Also the brand is in desperate needs of easy cash so the sale period is gonna help.
Funniest thing would be to see Michele's bags already on sale but that will never happen. However Loco bag by PPP on sale sounds interesting.

The markdown has been active for quite a while now in APAC (?) - it is 40% off of Pierpaolo's pieces, and no markdown on the Resort collection. Even at the markdown though the pieces are still quite high. For example :
