Alexander McQueen F/W 2006.07 Paris

Agreed with ultramarine....I think this has alot of elements of his roots. The feathers, the antlers with the veil(love that actually!)and the fabrics....there's a great usage of tartan which was part of the Highand r*pe collection.

I like this alot. It has an incredible, ethereal and organic sense of drama.

I hadn't known how to prepare... perhaps for another let-down but honestly, even without the last few seasons' collections still fresh in my mind, I'd never have taken a wild guess it'd be anything this good :woot: It's fantastical... no, it's indescribable. With a hint of other-wordy, I mean, -worldly... :p

I really  the falcon business...

The first standing ovation I've seen in Paris!!! :woot:

Uh-oh, I'm going to be the *only* one here who is going to say, although this is beautifully executed, he's gone backwards, and not in a good way. He's shown himself capable of doing only one particular look, not unlike Vivienne Westwood's, and he isn't able to pull off any other even though he's tried with the past two seasons. In that sense, I'd give the much less talented Marc Jacobs more credit for being able to shift with the times, just contrast the past collections with the current ones. Of course one can argue that he is being consistent and true to his roots, but fashion is fickle. McQ is doing what Balenciaga did for Spring 06, max out on period references and frills, and the winds of fashion are blowing the other way. Cynically, of course the winds are generated by the rush to move merchandise, but come 2007, when the more streamlined looks are all over, this will look dated, and it is dated, circa mid-90s McQ, when the "Gothic Lolita" (for want of a better reference:)) craze was sweeping McQ to his pinnacle. Ok, not a beep more from me.:)

First of all, who cares if the wind of fashion blows the other way, when it's filled with such creativity and beauty... why not blow the other way.. just that you blow..
Second it might be a repetition of "old" themes and he might only be able to pull of one particular look, but it's in the repeating of the repetition you find the difference... repetition et difference...:flower:

This is insane... in a good way. :)

I haven't seen much of it, but woaaaaaaaahh.. can anyone top this?

I'd go so far as to say it's the best I've seen in a couple of seasons. Seriously, I have tears in my eyes. That frickin' good.

!!!

HE IS BACK!!! Enough said, i almost cried when i saw the pictures, i had almost lost faith in him, but he did it. I just cant even describe how good it feels to know that a brilliant fashion talent and one of the few left that has, the "art house/indie" cred but is mass recognized, has not gone into overtly commercial hell.
best show, I know it, You know it and come Monday every review will verify and confirm it.

It's so funny to just read pages and pages of (well deserved) gushing.:D

I noticed that Daria and Snejana are both wearing the same look in seperate pics:

Does that mean the casting was different between the 8pm and 9pm shows??

I like it, but it's not really anything to new for him, it's alot like his earlier work. So i guess it just dosn't impress me because of that....

The question about who cares is of course the designer himself, whether he wants to be the one out front creating the wind and generating the buzz like Simons or whether he wants to be the one catering to his base. Somehow, I suspect that McQ's base, unlike say, Leonard or St John, are also trend-conscious and looking for new ideas and concepts which they will find in other contemporaries of McQ. I also tend to respect a designer more for pushing the envelope, rather than churning out the same old, even if he does it with great skill.n :)

GORGEOUS! But just one thing... I can't help but see the similarities to spring 06 Balenciaga
