Alexander McQueen F/W 2006.07 Paris

Looking at this collection I think perhaps Mcqueen should take over Dior. Dior was all about feminity and using classical ideals of what a woman is and forcing them into the contemporary world. This pretty much hits the mark in that regard. My only complaint is something that Cathy Horyn brings up in her review, the collection's lack of modernity. As beautiful as it is it's not very modern. Mcqueen is still addressing and responding to the traditional view and perception of women, their figure, and how they ought (or not) should dress. It's not an incredibly bad thing, especially when it looks so good, but it does keep you wondering.

If Mcqueen lost all of the costume and historical references it would be interesting to see where he would take his technical skill and creative vision.

It's beautiful in parts, but very costumey, very bourgoise, very, erm, beige. Doesn't seem hugely relevant or, as Mutterlein says, modern. In fact it seems to me, as McQueen always does, to be a little show off-ish. He's always seemed very aware of is olden boy status to me.

Last night, I had a dream where I saw practically saw the whole show. And then I remember waking up when Kate appeared and got goose bumps on my arms. I have never dreamt of anything like that before. WHo knew this collection had such an effect on me???:heart:

OMG I am dying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After some horrid collections. This one has my eyes watering with memories of his glory days, my chest thumping and err my credit card hiding

It is sooo weird that my first gut reaction to the photos of this collection was completely emotional and I was actually crying... and now reading some posts, it seems the same happened to other people.

I feel like skipping and freerunning across this town

The shoes are rather similar to Westwoods recent shoes... which makes me glad I didn't buy any of hers so I can buy some of his!
